Vintage, PVT & 2 Litre Forum / First use of the name ‘Acedes’

S F Edge registered the name of the company as AC (Acedes) Cars Ltd in 1927 when he acquired total control. I see some earlier AC cars of the 1920’s are sometimes called Acedes (e.g. by owners, cars for sale, and even the ACOC register) but is this actually correct?
   
   I can’t find the use of the name Acedes by AC in any literature prior to 1927. Can anyone advise please?

An innovative swivelling ashtray, from the 1930's, marked AC (Acedes) Thames Ditton, is for sale on Ebay. It's very probably from an early saloon, and likely has the holes either side for hanging your pipe(s)....for grabbing for a quick puff....

Vintage, PVT & 2 Litre Forum / AC engines for the R100 airship

Some subscribers and readers to the forum may not know that in 1927 the AC company supplied engines for the government-funded R100 airship project. The engines were used to run the auxiliaries (the main engines were six Rolls-Royce twelve-cylinders!)
   
   Here's a photo, with interesting caption, from the archives of 'Flight' magazine (issue 13 Oct 1927) showing the familiar AC-6, in vintage form with its single updraught carb, cam-driven waterpump etc.

An interesting period photo has appeared on the web. Taken in Vancouver, Canada it shows a 1928/9 (pre-receivorship) AC 2-door saloon, likely with the 16/56 engine. Also, nice liner in the background.

Another vintage car, not on the ACOC register, has surfaced. This one, a 1924 four-cylinder. The car, yet again, resides in a museum, this time in South Africa. Here's a couple of shots - the car needing a little care by the looks of it, and the second photo showing some interesting details, not least that it was supplied by T B Adair, an AC agent in the 1920's, in Johannesburg.

Vintage, PVT & 2 Litre Forum / A further vintage AC-Six surfaces!

Amazing, that after all this time and the continuation of the ACOC Vintage Register over so many years, that a car has surfaced that is unknown to the club!
   
   It’s a vintage 6-cylinder, registered now as AB·45·28 in Portugal, and resides currently in the Caramulo Museum, Portugal (in the mountains, east of the main Lisbon-Porto road). It is chassis number 13723, carries engine number E2N2194, and is painted green. It is said to be 1927 vintage, which would tally with the numbers. It is owned privately, but has been at the museum since 2004.

‘The House of Eliott’ (first shown early 90’s) is being repeated on ITV3, each weekday. Set in the 1920’s, keep an eye out for the AC Six of Alec Jacobs, that appears in a number of episodes.
   
   Alec still has the car; EX 1945, it’s green with black wings. It's on the following link, about halfway down, at the Brooklands National:

Last night on television, BBC 2, there was a programme about P G Wodehouse (‘Wogan on Wodehouse’). A photo flashed onto the screen, of Wodehouse in a polished aluminium AC, from the early 1920’s, looking very much the Bertie Wooster - here’s the shot below. The car looks like a 4-cylinder (12/24):

An interesting 1928 'fabric covered' saloon (the last of its kind?) is for sale in South Africa. Carries a high price, though the vintage sixes are much better than many other comparable higher-priced vintage cars! (And justly deserve a market revaluation).
