ACOC News and Events / Middle Wallop, 3 July
« on: March 28, 2021, 09:28:48 »
For anyone looking to fill a little of the gap left by the LMC cancellation, I've booked a ticket for this:

https://www.armyflying.com/events/family-events/wallop-wheels-and-wings-2021

A visit to the AAC Museum has been on the 'to do' list for a while and the organisers say that they hope the Museum will be open on the day, pandemic permitting.

ACOC News and Events / Goodwood Sprint - 31 October 2020
« on: September 14, 2020, 09:44:48 »
Stop press

Goodwood Sprint

It is with great regret that we have to inform you that no spectators will allowed into the Paddock area of the circuit or any part of the infield.

Only those who are actively participating may go through the tunnel: this means Officials, Competitors and Marshalls and nobody else.

Club members and the public will able to spectate on the perimeter track all round the circuit but must not go infield at all.

Strict social distancing including masks will be the order of the day.

This means we will be complying with not only Motorsport UK's guide lines but also the latest Government ones as of 12 September.  If we break these guidelines we are in danger of losing the use of the circuit in future years.

Many thanks in anticipation of you all complying!

If you are coming to a lovely sunny wind free Goodwood would you be willing to be a club steward for the event?  You will need to sign on but it means that you can come into the paddock and I think use the nice warm and dry upstairs of the Jacky Stewart building.
The stewards' main function is to sit on any judicial proceedings but as we have never had any since the event started 40 years ago I hope you won't have to do anything!

Kind regards
Mike Smith
Clerk of the Course

We welcome John Abel as Secretary to the Meeting and thank Bruce Claasen for his hard and efficient work in the past.  Potential competitors should contact John for an entry form and ASRs at johnbel289 at gmail dot com.

ACOC News and Events / Classics at Glemham
« on: August 02, 2020, 08:59:14 »
There's a chance for a 'get-together' at Glemham Hall on 6 September, when 'Classics at Glemham' is going ahead.  Pre-booking is required at £6 per adult.  We can have a club area if there is any interest, but space is filling up fast. They ask for cars to be in place by 10am but can accommodate late arrivals if they know the approximate ETA.

If anyone is interested and decides to book, please let me know and I will try to co-ordinate a club parking area.

« on: July 20, 2020, 13:33:37 »
The FBHVC has launched its quinquennial National Historic Vehicle Survey, a little earlier than planned so that it can cover activities in 2019 rather than the inevitably curtailed activities of 2020.  Please take part here to help the FBHVC prove to the Government the importance of the historic vehicle movement:

Closing date is 15 September 2020.

Thanks to all those who made the 2019 International such an outstanding success.  Nearly 60 ACs attended from Vintage to CRS and most took the opportunity to ascend Shelsley Walsh.  There will be a review in the September ACtion.

It's a while since I bought an old car mag but picked up the August issue of Classic Cars for the article on ME117.

Quentin Wilson's piece on page 37 really shocked me - worth checking out.
