« on: August 16, 2008, 12:57:17 »
Tim Isles will be grateful if anyone can anyone identify this long boot Ace Bristol that appeared at a show in Georgia in 2006 described as having Venezuela racing history - this to help with ongoing research of Aces in competition.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / ID of Ace #40 Le Mans Classic
« on: August 03, 2008, 19:09:07 »
Can anyone confirm the Chassis number of the Blue Ace Bristol Car No 40, running in Plateau 3.......Piloted by :-

FRANSSEN Leon & FEIERABEND Thomas. ??

Did anyone capture the racing incident when FEIERABENDs' Ace No 40 attacked the rear nearside wing of Bertrand Lesuers' Ace number 39, at approximately 4.00 am. on the Mulsanne straight prior to Chicane? Resulting in Bertrand loosing his Nearside rear wing and rear light.

Better still, Did anyone capture on film the moment when FEIERABEND returned to the pits with Bertrands' rear wing and light still attached to the front of his Ace ??

   Any information much appreciated

General Forum / INVITATION - 20 AUGUST (EVENING)
« on: July 16, 2008, 14:48:30 »
EVENING CONCOURS, WEDNESDAY 20 AUGUST

An informal but organized affair held at the Redwell Inn, Kirkby Lonsdale Road, near Arkholme, Lancs LA6 1BQ. There is no need to book in advance, just turn up and pay £6, for which you get a hot-pot supper included (passengers can also eat, for £5 each). There is a vegetarian option.

This event is aimed more at participants than spectators, with the entrants doing most of the judging themselves (you can't vote for your own car!). Although we’ve had some superb winners over the years, the ethos is 'polish it up and join in' rather than look jealously over your shoulder. Definitely not an occasion for people to put mirrors under their wings or for judges inspect the cleanliness of the engine oil. And it certainly doesn’t matter how much your car is worth, or how old it is. All you need is enthusiasm.

First entries are at 6:30pm, last entries 8pm sharp. There’s a broad mix of classes, which traditionally attracts a good variety: from vintage and pvt through postwar cars of all kinds to modern custom and modified cars.

Awards will be as follows. All are judged by the entrants themselves, except where marked *.

   Best Saloon
   Best Sports or GT
   Best pre 73
   Best 73-90
   Best Post 90
   Best Exterior
   Best Interior
   Best Engine Compartment
   Best Customized or Modified car
Most Faithful Servant (a fun award: best balance between use and condition,
entrants are encourage to placard their car with details of annual mileage,
   type of use, etc)
Best Porsche, presented by Porsche Club GB
*Best Jaguar or Daimler, the Joe Eldeen award
   *Landlady’s choice (self explanatory!)
   *Most original car
   *Car of the show.

For more information on the Evening Concours, phone Norman Burr on 01524 849079 or
   07729 618861 or email <nburr@talktalk.net>.

General Forum / FORUM POSTS
« on: May 26, 2008, 12:00:36 »
I have edited several replies and deleted one complete topic from the Forum.  At a time of great flux for AC, comments about personalities may be very unhelpful for the company and the ACOC.

General Forum / Brevettato Choke
« on: May 08, 2008, 20:21:08 »
I bought Barrie Bird's gas flowed Weber 38DGAS carb for my ME last year and it came fitted with a Brevettato manual choke conversion, which works very nicely and is a lot neater than the 'bent tin' ones generally available.  Barrie had no documentation on this and I have been unable to find anything at all about it - a Google search returns nothing relevant.  Does anyone know anything about Messrs Brevettato?

General Forum / £25 London Congestion Charge
« on: March 14, 2008, 09:36:40 »
There is a short article in the front of the current issue of Classic and Sports Car that indicates that the proposed £25 'Congestion' Charge will include Type Approved cars over 3000cc.  That includes most if not all Mk IVs and all Ace Brooklands.

I haven't been able to confirm if this is correct after a quick web search - can anyone confirm or otherwise?

General Forum / Annual General Meeting
« on: February 20, 2008, 08:25:16 »
Please note that the AGM has been rescheduled for 7.30 pm on Thursday 24 April 2008 at the Kings Head, 13 Westmoreland Street, London W1.

The reason for the change is that Peter Tyler, who has recently taken over as Club Secretary, has suffered a serious leg injury and is trying to keep his travelling to a minimum.  Let's all wish him well for a speedy recovery.
