I was fortunate enough to be accepted to race in the Sonoma Histor Motorsport Festival at Infineon Race Track last weekend (Formerly Sears Point).
It was a wonderful 3-day outing and the Aceca performed quite well - in spite of my nightmarish Solex problems.
An unforeseen benefit of the outing was that my car was chosen as a featured "Car of Interest" in the Sports Car Digest write up of the event.
Here is a link to the on-line article.

Several nice pics of the Aceca!

   Enjoy...

General Forum / Solex to Weber Conversion
« on: June 10, 2010, 20:29:52 »
Does anyone know if there is a good conversion from Solex to Weber Carbs on a D2 motor?

More importantly, was this commonly done in the past?

My Solex performance is crap and my mechanic believes that Webers will solve what ails me.

   Thanks!

FYI -  I will be checking with Jon Leonard.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Race set up for an Aceca Bristol
« on: March 11, 2010, 19:53:56 »
OK guys -
Great dialog on the spark plugs.

   Now, how about race prepping?

I am currently readying my recently purchased Aceca with a mildly race prepped D2 motor for the season. I am new to this motor and would appreciate any advice on how to set it up correctly:

   - Plugs
   - Electronic ignition
   - Carbs (currently have solex's without the accelerator pumps)
   - Brake pads
   - Brake fluid
   - Gearbox fluid
   - Diff fluid
   - Engine oil
   - Anything else I should know?

   All input appreciated as always....

   Cheers,
   Rob

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Spark plugs for racing
« on: March 02, 2010, 18:07:09 »
Does anyone have any opinion on recommended spark(ing) plugs for racing an Aceca with D2 engine?  I have heard you should use "cold" plugs for racing and "hot" plugs for general use.

I do realize that it may depend on compression and fuel.  Assume a "gently" race prepped engine with cam and pistons.

   Any comments/experiences/recommendations would be appreciated.

   Cheers,
   Rob

Does anyone know what the fuel pressure (in lbs) on the Solex's running on a D2 motor should be?

« on: February 28, 2010, 02:09:21 »
Hi,

Can anyone tell me where I can find engine parts here in the US?  Specifically ignition parts like cap, rotor, points and wires for a Bristol D2 motor?

   Thanks!

Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good mechanic in the San Francisco Bay Area? I have a Bristol Aceca that I want to have looked over.

   Thanks very much.
