As some of you may have the same noise problem or maybe solved it i would like to collect solutions for the problem here again.

My car was squeeking from the first day on i owned it. Some times after havy rain drives the noise was a bit reduced but not eliminated completely.

I replaced/checked every detail of my rear suspension but it still speaks to us during every ride.

   What i did so far:

   - replaced worn out suspension rubber bushings by PU parts rear and front
   - replaced the lower bearing at the koni's
   - cleaned, checked, greased and replaced all rubber dust boots
   - cleaned, checked, greased all ball joints

Last week i applied some low viscouse miracle lube to all moving interfaces at my rear suspension, no success.

But, a vew days later, we had a real sunny Cobra meeting tour and after a 15 minutes brake (my wife was still sitting in the car) the noises were gone completely  for the rest of this and the following day !!!!!

Two days later the noise was back.....and it definitely is caused by the rear suspension parts.

I think during the brake the only difference to all past situations was that the suspension was a bit preloaded and the warmed lube reached places it could not reach before.

Who has solved this problem in the past and how? Any help is highly appreciated.

On some inside pictures from the Autokraft plant you can see the MK IV main frame still in the jig without paint.

A closer look shows grinding points on top of the main frames in equal distances.

It looks like something inside like a brace made from flat material was welded through the tubes and grinded afterwards.

Is it really a brace going through the whole length of the main tubes?
Is it flat material or anything else?

My car is actually sitting on a small scissors lift to replace all suspension rubber caps and the doors open and close without any problem.

The bracing would be a explanation for that kind of frame stiffness.

I know it was discussed some times but I need to have the below pictured joints identified.

What kind of joint is it, the SAAB unit or anything else?

   Thanks for the support,

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / BP lubrication chart for AC Cobra
« on: June 15, 2012, 10:13:45 »
I have a original lubrication chart available for "A.C. Cobra" showing the lubrication points, used lubes and milage for servicing a leaf spring car. It will make a nice little add to your technical documentation.

If there is any interest I would send it to one of You for use on the data base or pictures in the members area or free.

The chart is scanned as picture but can be converted to PDF.

Just send me a PM or drop me a mail to uwe.mueller@jci.com.

The pic shows the chart in a low resolution, the printed out original is in a good legible condition an can be zoomed to the original size without loosing details.

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / COB 6101 ?
« on: December 29, 2011, 15:42:53 »
A late Merry Christmas to You all,
after receiving the actual Cobra World registry as a Christmas present I started reading immediately. Directly at the beginning of the COB Cobra chapter is witten that the first COB 6101 was copied.

Does anybody know who built this car and when? In the books COB 6101 looks very good and professionally built.
I'm a bit upsetted because " Original AC Ace & Cobras" was the cobra bible for me the last 20 years and now I learned that Rinsey Mills showed a copy in there?
I hope i got it wrong and the car in the book is the real one.

Is the COB 6101 clone a very early Brian Angliss "air" car before he started business under the name Autokraft or who did it if not?

Is this a one off story or happened it again to other COB cars?

Hello all,

I want to introduce your newest member to You.

I am cobra grazy since i had a card play with cars as i was 9 years old (in 1969) where the cobra was my absolute favorite.

I started my second life(after a long, long time in the federal armed forces) as a automotive engineer for IAD International Automotive Design in Germany where i found out that IAD did some work for AC Autokraft on the late ACE.

Since these years i did electric cars for the Ruegen project and others, show cars for all the international car shows, prototypes and ended up in a company doing interior components for the OEMs.

After 24 years of building plastic cobras i sold my latest one, a FE powered Crendon CR427 last month, realized my dream of a aluminum car and got hold of AK 1106.

The car needs a lot of attention like: Complete interior rework, exterior paint, drivetrain, suspension and so on.

In short words: I will be busy for the next few years.

Sorry for my bad english writing and greetings from Germany,

   Westcott (Uwe)
