A question for the masses.  I have an AC engined Aceca that I would like to fit with an overdrive gearbox.  My car came with the Moss box and I have given consideration to obtaining one with overdrive and fitting to my car with the necessary modifications.  An issue I have with this is the problem with worn syncros typical in the Moss box and the inability to replace them.  Being aware that AC offered a "lightweight" gearbox that has been described as TR gears in AC's own casting I am wondering if anyone has attempted to use a TR overdrive gearbox.  The only picture I have seen of one is the cutaway in the owners handbook that looks to me very much like a TR box with the bell housing machined off and a different one bolted on.  Has anyone explored doing this using the AC / Moss bellhousing and a modified TR gearbox (I realize that the input shaft would need to be machined for a female pilot bearing, amongst other modifications).  I am beginning to prefer this option given better parts availability for the Triumph box as well as the remote gear shift position, etc.  I am not interested in any modern 5 speed conversions so I really have these two options.  Your experiences would be appreciated!

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Ace,Aceca and 2.6 Dust Shields.
« on: October 03, 2014, 02:49:01 »
Several of us in the San Francisco Bay area and Vancouver are in need of replacement front wing dust/mud shields for Ace, Aceca and 2.6s and after much lively discussion we decided to defer to the Forum for advice and assistance in determining the design of same.

We are divided on design. Are the shields divided top to bottom or top to spring shackle only, the lower portion remaining one piece, are any patterns available and what rubber/neoprene sheeting is suggested?

Vintage, PVT & 2 Litre Forum / Weller Engine Oil
« on: September 19, 2013, 19:49:31 »
Robin,

I noted your Vintage, PVT & 2 Litre Forum reply Sept 15 re "Rear Spring Removal" and your direction to the website www.ac2litre.com.

Under the heading at that website, "Site Map", "Maintenance (engine oil/cooling/fuel)" it states "it cannot be stressed too strongly that modern high detergent oils and especially multi grades should not be used in an old design engine....sometimes a catastrophic disaster".

I have been using Penzoil 20/50 for CLBN 2476 for years and so far no "catastropic disaster", touch wood. What do you think?

I only wish I could attend your October 20 Weller Engine seminar and bring up this subject but regrettably I cannot. Hence, here am I on the Forum.

   Best regards,

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Screen Washer Push Switch
« on: July 01, 2012, 00:54:19 »
I am looking for the small white knurled push switch surround for the Ace screen washer, usually located on the dash just to the left of the steering column (LHD). The top on my screw on white surround has broken away and is now topless!

Any help in finding a source, new or used would be most appreciated.

   With best wishes to all

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Delaney Gallay Demister Tubing
« on: January 29, 2012, 02:21:39 »
I am trying to find demister tubing for the Delaney Gallay heater as fitted to later Ace.
Dayco has the proper thing, ie paper covered aluminium core Emission Control Tubing but the 1.5" is too large. Should be 1.3" to fit the heater outlet and screen inlet.
Victoria British etc only have the Dayco 1.5" tubing which they supply to A-H, TR3 etc.
Does anyone have any ideas who can supply?

   Best regards to everyone,
