Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / BEX450 for sale
« on: December 22, 2008, 12:44:43 »
Fantasy Junction (yes, them again) have listed BEX450 for sale:

   http://www.fantasyjunction.com/cars/738-AC%20ACE-Bristol-Inline%206-Cyl

Asking $275,000. Not a sign of decrease yet but maybe that's not necessary as long as most Aces seem to be selling reasonably quickly when compared to several other cars.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AEX1083 for sale in Venezuela
« on: December 12, 2008, 23:45:24 »
Today the BOC (Bristol Owners Club) forum reached the following message through Anthony Spooner:

   Dear sirs,

attached are some pictures of an AC BRISTOL that may interest you, the car is in state of restoration and is in Venezuela. If you wish to make an offer, please do not hesitate to contact me.

   Yours faithfully,

The Bristol engine 100D 667 currently fitted seems to have its origin in Aceca Bristol BEX 626 which was also exported to Venezuela.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / BEX1126 for sale (the swamp car)
« on: November 09, 2008, 13:43:54 »
It turns out that BEX1126 which was discovered earlier this year in a Georgia swamp, a description of which is to be read in November's edition of ACtion, is being offered for sale now on eBay by its new owner.
Apparently he has come to the conclusion that he does not have enough time on his hands to restore it.
A good opportunity to see many more pictures of it than the previously supplied few photos.

Prices are still creeping up a bit but maybe it's reflecting its condition when compared to similar cars offered before.
As usual, more (and better) pictures will follow after its arrival at their premises.

Thanks to Tim Isles for informing me.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Unknown Ace
« on: March 30, 2008, 00:02:16 »
Unlike Antoine Prunet's unknown Ace topic which unfortunately never materialized on this forum here are two photos of an early Ace (i.e. long bootlid/trunklid) during restoration that Tim Isles, Keith Lessiter and myself are as yet unable to identify. Obvious are the wide flares on the rear wheelarches. The car is RHD as can be seen but not sure if it's original RHD or converted from LHD.
Does anybody recognize this car or at least have any clue?
The registrar would be most happy to receive any information.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AC registry
« on: December 30, 2007, 13:47:33 »
Early this year a thread was started by Gus Meyjes with the title "Owner's Photo compilation". It's to be found under this link:
   http://www.racecar.co.uk/acoc/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=242

Some owners posted one or more pictures of their AC but what he really meant is to create some kind of database which would form a register.
Now this is something I have been thinking about for a long time too.
Not so strange since I'm a registrar myself for many years though not for any AC model.
A thread on this forum may not be the perfect place to create an online register. But what about what they have done for Jaguar XK models for instance? Look at xkdata.com and see what I mean. The website will tell more than a thousand words as they say. Thanks to Emmanuel who pointed us to this site.
Now I know there are registers for most AC models within the ACOC for years and they are highly valued. The point is these registers were mostly compiled during a time when there was no internet. Not all data in the registers can be put online just like that, certainly not without permission from the person who contributed the information. That in itself may be an almost impossible task.
However, it still would be very nice for all of us to see some of the fruits of all this labour, something that's not so easy with a traditionally kept register by one person.
What I mean is that complementing the ACOC registers there may be room for an online register. A register for any AC owner, not necessarily an ACOC member.
The privacy aspect is something any contributor should judge by himself. That's why he should be free to include as many or as little information as he likes, certainly information that has a privacy aspect to it. However, it can be done, it IS done already and I can't help feeling a bit envious when looking at the results.
Building a register takes a lot of time, you need to be patient.

Since I own an Ace Bristol first and foremost I'm interested in an Ace and Aceca database.
I'm looking for reactions and suggestions.
Who would be interested in this idea and more to the point who would be willing to register his Ace or Aceca this way? Without registrations there's no database!

   Let's hear your viewpoint.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / BEX278 for sale
« on: October 10, 2007, 23:16:06 »
Now Fantasy Junction also offers BEX278 (see also topic BEX426 for sale).

   http://www.fantasyjunction.com/used-cars.php?id=b1e5b5dd869e2825794187a70052dee7

When compared to the massive asking price of BEX426 the price of this restored car seems ALMOST reasonable [;)] $ 265,000.

Again in this case the engine number is not original being 652 instead of 608 but block and head match and of course it's still a 100D. According to the register it belonged to Aceca BEX614 before.
On a personal note, it's very close to my own car's 650. BEX426 has 647 on the tappet cover plate so is also close but don't know if it's also on the block (no pic). The head is 733 whereas the original was 787 as already stated.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / BEX339 for sale
« on: October 10, 2007, 22:53:01 »
BEX339, the car that was the subject of two letters in October's ACtion as being auctioned by Kruse on Sep. 4 for a substantial price has turned up again on the internet.
Surprisingly with another dealer than the one stated in one of the letters. It's listed with Charles Crail Automobiles who appear to have sold at least 2 Aces in the past.
   Here's the link:
   http://www.charlescrail.com/used-cars.php?id=c1d0e891dae1c934887d4f4a7082155e
I must say the pictures are a pleasant surprise, it looks nicer than the pictures in ACtion suggest.
Part of this must be the apparent absence of the dents that are clearly visible in ACtion's pics (LR wing and also LF wing). What magic made them disappear?? It's a mystery to me as the pics look to be recent and the description mentions hurricane damage to the building where the Ace was stored that also affected the car.
Also, there's one pic where the demister vents for the flat screen version are visible (topic "Demister vents for 56 Ace").
