   According to the auction catalogue the car is unique in having been actively involved in both eras of the ME story. Originally it was the Thames Ditton factory demonstrator and subsequently it went to Scotland and along the way having the Ford power plant replaced with an Alfa V6.

   I can recommend the trimmer that Thunder Road use in Surrey. FYI - when I last had some trim work done I also had heated seat pads fitted which has made a worthwhile difference on chilly days.

Two or three years ago I had a stone smash the blades on my radiator fan and had Thunder Road replace it with a new one that looks the same as the old fan. T-R also fitted an adjustable temp switch which allows me to alter the temp at which the fan cuts in.

I did have a similar experience driving on the motorways in the South of France last year. At about 80 or 90 mph the oil pressure suddenly dropped by approx 10psi for a few minutes, it did this a couple of times during the trip. Each time, I backed off a little and the pressure slowly returned. It was high summer and the air temp was in the high 80s. It certainly got my attention when it happend and I had everything checked out when back home and nothing was found to be wrong with the engine or cooling. I have not noticed it happening since that trip and have since had the oil and filter changed.
   
   My engine is a 302 with a Holly 600, Edlbrock  performer heads, duel-plane intake, hotter cam and Shorty headers and has an oil cooler.

I am also interested in replacement under bonnet rubber grommets / buttons, please let me know if you have a source of supply.
   I have in the past contacted a manufacture to have the item produced, but the minimum order is 100 and it was not a cheap quote.

Having had two punctures this summer it’s a something that does concern me.
   
   I have been talking with the UK importer of a “gunk” that is permanently added to the tyre and is designed to seal punctures when they happen. I’ve haven’t done it yet for a number of reasons:
   
   •I’ve had people tell me stories or similar stuff settling and making a vehicle impossible to drive (because of wheel balance issues), but the importer assures me this is not the case.
   
   •The “gunk” is used mainly on heavy trucks and construction equipment ie relatively slow moving vehicles. The importer tells me their stuff is used on racing cars.
   
   •My car does not get much usage during winter months and I’m concerned about settlement occurring  due to months of storage.
   
   •Because the sealant is a permanent fix it would be sensible to check the tyres regularly for nails etc.
   
   •I have to provide the F & r tyre dimensions because the volume of sealant has to be calculated for the specific size of tyre.
   
   •I haven’t rushed at over the summer because if it goes wrong it’s going to be a real pain to fix.
   
   I do carry a tin of “gunk” in the car, but it’s not from Halfords etc. I have tried using one in the past and found it useless unless you jack the car up and can re-inflate the tyre. I had a Halford’s can of tyre puncture sealant go off in my modern and it created a very sticky mess.
   
   For the MkIV I bought a tyre inflation pack from BMW, it comes in a neat bag and includes a tin of sealant, a tool to remove the valve, spare valves and an electric air pump. The repair bag should also include a photo of me with my fingers crossed because that’s how it feels.
   
   If I take the plunge and try the permanent “gunk” I’ll post the outcome on the forum.

Do you intend to use the rim as it is, or will you be cutting and welding it. A while ago I had thought of having a wheel cut and narrowed and fitted with a motorcycle or narrow car tyre. When I mentioned it to Big Al and Alec at T-R they quickly turned and walked away from me muttering words such as fool and idiot :(

I find I'm OK with the brake accelerator, but because the the clutch action is so far down the pedal's travel I had it cut and welded to bring the pedal closer/higher and that's worked well for me. I also had the rear of the drivers seat lowers slightly to give the backrest a little more rake.

   FYI – we’ve had some very hot weather in the UK so far this summer and it’s typically in hot weather that rear suspension would develop the really irritating squeak. So far this summer, since the back-end rebuild, I’ve not had a squeak out of it and the diff is working fine #61514;

For what it's worth, Thunder Road made and fitted a front anti-roll / anti-sway bar to the front of my car and it made a massive improvement to handling. They advised against fitting a rear bar saying it wasn't really needed for the road. they said even when they fit one to a race car they disconnect it for wet weather racing.
   BTW - T-R make each bar to fit a specific car, so can't do mail-order.
