FYI – There is an eleven page article in the September edition of Classic Cars in which Terry Richards' Aceca is compared with a Jaguar XK140 and a Lancia Aurelia. I won’t spoil the surprise of which car comes out on top  – John.

A nice nine page article in the September edition of Octane. It’s about CSX 3006 which was carrying the registration LOV 1 for the photoshoot. Currently owned by Henry Pearman of Eagle E-Types fame and photographed at Goodwood.

General Forum / SuperCar event in Scotland
« on: July 16, 2012, 13:48:09 »
The following is FYI, please DM me let me know if you would like additional contact details. John.

I am contacting you now on behalf of Supercar Ecosse to invite you and the AC Owners Club to participate in our Charity Supercar Weekend Event, which is taking place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September, 2012. Our Event Sponsors are Barclays Wealth, Knockhill Racing Circuit, Fairmont St Andrews, Premier Signs & Engraving (Scotland) Ltd & Fife Constabulary.

Supercar Ecosse is a newly formed Scottish Charity Organisation, created to bring together owners of all Supercar and specialist Sports Car marques on a regular basis, with the main purpose being to raise money for Help for Heroes and Macmillan Cancer Support Charities.

The Itinerary and Entry Form for our inaugural Charity Supercar Weekend Event on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September 2012, are attached to this email…..we would be most obliged if you would circulate them to your membership and encourage them to support this Charity Event.

Joining us on the weekend will be several wounded & injured members of the Armed Services who are presently undergoing treatment at the Military’s Scottish Personnel Recovery Unit in Edinburgh, many are double & triple amputees and we will also be joined by nurses from Macmillan Cancer Support. So let’s see what we can do jointly to give something back to these Heroes. In addition, the weekend will have media coverage and the likelihood of TV coverage at some point - all aimed to raise awareness for these very worthwhile causes....

Moving forward, we plan to work with you to arrange regular road runs, specialist events and ‘Car and Coffee’ gatherings, all of which will enable us to raise funds for these charities in Partnership.

On behalf of Supercar Ecosse, I thank you for circulating the attached Itinerary and Entry Form to your members inviting them to join us and other likeminded Sports and Supercar owners, in taking part in what should be a highly memorable, exceptionally enjoyable and very worthwhile event.

Our event details are also on our website www.supercarecosse.com

Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

   Kind Regards

This invitation was too late for the magazine. Anyone interested in attending please send me an email and I'll forward the contact details and invitation form.
   Thanks - John.

I am writing to invite you and your members to Castle Combe Circuit on Sunday 24 June to join us in a celebration of the 50th anniversary of several marques/models of iconic British sports cars, such as the AC Cobra, the MGB, the Triumph Spitfire and the Lotus Elan. I apologise for the short notice, and I realise that you probably all have packed calendars this year, but it's just possible that some of your members might like to join us.

We are offering not only a static display, but also the opportunity for sports car drivers and their family members to take part in parade laps on the circuit itself. The event is free to enter for anyone displaying an appropriate car, with a modest charge of £10 for track access.

The Chipping Sodbury Rotary Club Classic Run is happening on the same day and will be converging on Castle Combe as a rallying point around lunchtime. Many of those taking part will be taking to the track in the afternoon session, but at the moment we have plenty of space in the morning session.

You will see from the attached that we are also holding our annual Dick Mayo Sprint at the circuit on the Saturday, which offers free entry for spectators, and if anyone wishes to stay overnight we are offering free, secure camping overnight (tent or motor home) and an evening party with food and live music.

In all, it promises to be an enjoyable, relaxed and entertaining weekend for anyone with an interest in motor sport, classic and modern, and I hope that it might appeal to your members, friends or colleagues.

I attach full details for your consideration, and I hope I may have the opportunity to meet you in a few weeks' time.

   Regards

I found this photo website recently and the thought the forum may enjoy some of the motorsport images. It certainly is a snapshot of a time that is long gone.

The club has been asked if we have a member willing to make their Aceca available for a photoshoot (and mild test drive). The request is for an article to “Test desirable 1950s GT cars”  The Aceca will be joined by a Jaguar XK140 fhc and a Lancia Aurelia B20. The location is to be somewhere between Basingstoke and Bicester on the 18th May. The journalist is John Simister and he’s asked for a Bristol engine example if possible, but he is aware of the potentially limited availability so would welcome an AC or Ford engine example.

The magazine will pay all your petrol costs, lunch and full insurance cover for the brief period John would be driving you car.
FYI – The test drive would be on public roads and would not push the car in any way.
Any interested or willing please contact me at john@moonlightmedia.co.uk or 0207 250 4770.

   Thanks – John.

FYI – the June edition of Classic & Sports Car has a three page buyers guide for the Ace and Aceca. Page 192 of the edition with the two Aston DB7s on the cover.

General Forum / Brooklands Double Twelve event
« on: February 08, 2012, 14:02:09 »
I have been in contact with one of the organisers of the Double Twelve event at Brooklands (Surrey).
   www.brooklandsmuseum.com/index.php?/double12

We have the opportunity for a few of our cars to be part part of a static ACOC display during the weekend of the event. We don’t have to have the same cars for both days so you can only do one day if you want. The one requirement from the organisers is we must have at least one club member man the stand at all times. This is because in previous years they’ve had complaints from the public who have been unable to talk owners / club reps because some clubs have got in for free and then leave their display unmanned.

I would appreciate an indication of interest in order to let Brooklands know. Please email me if you are interested and I will start a list and email the paperwork to you.
   Thanks – John.
