Hi

The breakdown of 427 colo(u)rs is:

   Rangoon Red - 80
   Ivy Green - 56
   Guardsman Blue - 45
   Silver - 26
   White - 24
   Black - 18
   Charcoal - 1
   Unpainted - 10

To quote from the SAAC Registry, all Competition and S/C models were delivered unpainted from AC Cars and were painted at Shelby American per customer order. So any further info lies buried within the Sacred Halls of the SAAC HQ.

Really good article - read it in Sainburys yesterday! As you do. Dan Bowden sent me all the pics and info a while back. For my money, one of the best Cobras on the planet - it's lived the life. On the topic of Classic Car mag, be on the lookout for a feature about a certain Cobra V8-powered AC Aceca which should be appearing in the next issue. Maybe.

North Yorkshire it is then :)

What you have is a Factory Five replica and a piece of metal with 'AC Cars' stamped on it. I've got a stack of those in my desk drawer. Sadly, that don't make my desk a Cobra. (Although I sometimes pretend, late at night...it's the absinthe y'know...)

   Happy motoring! :)

That's nice - drag my name into it! I was about to hurtle up to downtown Nantwich as it's not every day a poor boy can purchase a genuine 289 Cobra for just 25,000 notes! Then I realised I would be trampled in the rush, so maybe I'll stay home and count my blessings.

It's fortunate the circuits allow for a more level playing field, so to speak, and give a more accurate reflection of performance. In my opinion :) At least the happy pair can smile about it

CSX3167 is sadly lost to these isles, residing as it does in downtown Buenos Aires, or thereabouts.....possibly sharing garage space with one of the Daytona coupes?

26
They don't make 'em like that any more :)

27
Possibly due to being transferred to another vehicle...?

Nope, I was lurking but those photos don't record my lurk. Nor is that me with the long blonde hair. Never been blonde, but it's always worth considering. Grey is so now....

Those photos kinda confirm (on my planet) that it was one fugly muttha from almost every angle. I fell about when I read of the LPG option - when I'm down, I pull out the interviews with the boss man and his comments never fail to make my smile once more. Luckily they don't allow me access to sharp implements in this place. Hahaha!!

I guess when I happened upon the Mamba on a couple of occasions, it was possibly not looking its best (although one time was at the so-called Centenary bash). However as Lord Muck has observed, I have gazed upon thy works and found them wanting, for verily the kwality of said workmanship indicated a right lash-up. My judgement is, of course, final.

In fairness, had a car been completed, painted properly and was road-ready, it might have looked less like an inferior Tonka toy.
