General Forum / AC Cobra New Models
« on: July 01, 2020, 10:45:16 »
I note AC Cars has published details of 2 new models on their website alongside the AC Cobra 378  which has been available for a while now.

AC Cobra 140 Charter Edition - Powered by 2.3L Ford Ecoboost 4 pot - claiming 350bhp and 325ftlb of torque. SRP £85k.

AC Cobra Series 1 Electric - 54kWh battery, 230kw (~ 308bhp) claiming 150mile range. SRP £138k

Specs are a bit light on detail (considering deliveries are expected in the next 6 months) but I personally welcome an electric AC. With Jag and Aston already offering "factory" electric conversions, it's the sensible way to go to get new bods into ACs.

The body will be "High-grade composite" not sure what this means.

58 examples of each model available with deposits now being accepted.

Deliveries expected last quarter of 2020 - Will be interesting to see if this comes to pass.

All 3 AC models being marketed use the Cobra name. I'm not up-to-date on the ownership of the Cobra name but I guess it has been settled or licensed appropriately.

Sorry to see nobody replied. It seems the forum is a bit dead these days.

I hope you had a great time at Goodwood?

Looks like something to be sent to Terry and published in ACtion to see if any of the readership could shed any light. What an interesting find!

Hi Michael,

This sounds like a great event to be invited to. Unfortunately with the low traffic of the forum these days I'm guessing you didn't receive much interest? I would have suggested getting the ad in ACtion as soon as the invite was extended to the club but it is a bit late for that now.

Unfortunately, the Saturday clashes with the Castle Combe Autumn Classic which rules us out. The Sunday may still be a possibility. I will email you directly.

Reviving this old thread rather than starting a new one.

For those interested, there is an AC Greyhound of the Road mascot currently in the H&H online auction.

You can find it here: https://online.handh.co.uk/m/lot-details/index/catalog/120/lot/44391/?url=%2Fm%2Fview-auctions%2Fcatalog%2Fid%2F120%2F%3Fpage%3D2%26view%3Dgrid

You can sign up and bid online until 21st April 2019

A bit light on technical details on the car but nice to see an AC getting plenty of praise in the video and the comments.

Great cinematography from Petrolicious as always.

Robin attended the Ace 60th Anniversary race at Silverstone 2014 where some of us met her. I don't think the Californians were overly impressed with the weather that day....

Hi Simon,

It may seem obvious but the Ace Bristol Racing Book by John McLellan and Tony Bancroft is a good place to start. It is still available from the authors for £40 + p&p if I remember correctly.

Another extremely enjoyable sprint this year. Massive thank you to Bruce, Mike Smith, Mike and Nathan Berrisford, Peter de RH, Angela Yates, The medical team, and marshals. Everyone working together so well really makes the Sprint the special event that is. Thanks also to all who make the effort to come down and watch, cheer us on, take pictures and catch up with pals.

Speaking to some of our VSCC guests, they prefer coming to our sprint because it is so smoothly run, friendly, and fun. And that's coming from a club that has a season-long championship of sprints and hill climbs. I think that speaks volumes about our ACOC team.

Well that is bloody useful!

Thanks for sharing!
