General Forum / ACOC Instagram Account
« on: April 03, 2022, 22:11:29 »
With the blessing of the rest of the council, I have created an AC Owners' Club Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/acownersclub/.

It is to provide an insight into members' cars and events. Content so far has been from club photographers past and present, me and a few other contributors. At the time of writing we have 256 followers so please do follow if you are on Insta.

If you have any images you would like to share on the club's Instagram please do contact me directly - my email is in ACtion (Awards and Trophies) or on the Members area of the website (Awards and Trophies). or private message me on the forum here.

I could do with more Vintage, PVT, Saloon, Buckland and 3000ME content but any and all is welcome. Even better if there is a story to go with it.

When sending me content, or interacting on the account, please bear in mind it is completely public (like this forum).

There are no details at the time of writing (other than the images).

Seems keenly estimated at £80-120K. Looks to be in lovely condition. I hope bidding makes it into its estimate range.

There are no details as of the time of writing but I would hope the estimate is a little on the conservative side (£12-15k). It is offered without reserve.

Hi All,

The AC Owners' Club Sprint is fast approaching on 11th Sept to be held at Goodwood.

All members, friends, sons, daughters, wives, girlfriends and boyfriends are welcome to attend as spectators. There tends to be a good turnout of members at the Sprint so we would love to see you there.

The ACOC Sprint is the perfect introduction to competitive motorsport if you have not competed previously. For the seasoned campaigners, there is some very attractive glassware on offer for the fastest times in each class! We also have an award for the fastest Lady on the day (in an AC if applicable).

Although we would love more ACs to take part, pretty much any car is eligible to enter the competition providing it meets the Motorsport UK safety regulations. We have an increased capacity this year with the longer daylight hours so if you are interested in competing, please do get in touch.

John Abel is the secretary of the meeting and will process your entry form. He can be contacted here: johnabel289@gmail.com

As John tends to get inundated with emails, if you have any questions about the event, please get in touch with me directly: tedshepherd@hotmail.com

All the best everyone

Ted

I assume Nigel Hulme is still the owner as I have not seen it advertised since I saw him with the car at Goodwood in 2019.

Some great images on the website.

Recent ACs / Another new model - Electric Le Mans Coupe Cobra
« on: November 02, 2020, 11:15:30 »
Just received from Sports Car Digest (worthwhile subscribing if you don't already)

https://sportscardigest.com/ac-cars-to-produce-12-ac-cobras-in-1963-le-mans-liveries/?utm_source=sendfox&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=november-1st-sports-car-digest-weekly-update

And a new page appeared on the AC Cars website:
https://www.accars.eu/models/ac-cobra-le-mans-electric/

£600,000 for an electric version of 39PH or 645CGT. Interesting to see the planned chassis numbers for these cars and the reasons why.

"The cars will have chassis numbers based on the originals and listed in the ‘AC Bible’, a historical listing that secures their future valuation."

Clearly aiming at the market of people to buy, put away for 5 years add 50% to price and sell to next. Rinse and repeat until someone realises these cars carry none of the historical value of the originals.

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / 2.6 Ace or Early Cobra?
« on: October 15, 2020, 16:09:06 »

Very distinctive wing mirrors. Parked outside Robert Patrick and Partner's garage.

Any ideas as to the identity of the car?

General Forum / AC Cobra New Models
« on: July 01, 2020, 10:45:16 »
I note AC Cars has published details of 2 new models on their website alongside the AC Cobra 378  which has been available for a while now.

AC Cobra 140 Charter Edition - Powered by 2.3L Ford Ecoboost 4 pot - claiming 350bhp and 325ftlb of torque. SRP £85k.

AC Cobra Series 1 Electric - 54kWh battery, 230kw (~ 308bhp) claiming 150mile range. SRP £138k

Specs are a bit light on detail (considering deliveries are expected in the next 6 months) but I personally welcome an electric AC. With Jag and Aston already offering "factory" electric conversions, it's the sensible way to go to get new bods into ACs.

The body will be "High-grade composite" not sure what this means.

58 examples of each model available with deposits now being accepted.

Deliveries expected last quarter of 2020 - Will be interesting to see if this comes to pass.

All 3 AC models being marketed use the Cobra name. I'm not up-to-date on the ownership of the Cobra name but I guess it has been settled or licensed appropriately.

A bit light on technical details on the car but nice to see an AC getting plenty of praise in the video and the comments.

Great cinematography from Petrolicious as always.

Robin attended the Ace 60th Anniversary race at Silverstone 2014 where some of us met her. I don't think the Californians were overly impressed with the weather that day....

General Forum / Goodwood 76th Members Meeting 2018
« on: March 07, 2018, 15:08:36 »
So who's going to the 76MM?

Anyone braving it and taking an AC?

Murray and I are doing the parade laps on the Saturday morning (in one of Newport Pagnell's closed-top GTs instead of an AC!). We will be there both days come rain wind or (hopefully) shine. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces wandering the paddocks, at the fence, or in the bar!
