Thank you to Keith and James for messaging me.
I have to apologise to both of you for not replying but have only just noticed they were there.

To update progress, I managed to get a legible copy of the one I had. It was however of very little use due to the modifications that have been made over the years to my car. I did buy a new loom a couple of years ago expecting a straight forward install. However when recently getting round to fitting it, it proved it to be of no real use at all. I basically have totally stripped it to use up the cable it contained.
I have been keeping Stephen Hall (registrar) informed of progress and will let him have the final drawing and information on what I have done when completed.

It does seem a little strange that the forum is not busy in these odd times.
It is the same on the Daimler site as well. I hope it’s because people are keeping occupied rather than it being a dislike to me personally.

Keep happy but keep safe.

Luckily the 16/66 came back from the trimmer before lockdown. I had a date at the end of may to build up the car but that is now cancelled. I can now just enjoy assembly at my leisure as the fancy takes me.
I find myself doing something and then changing my mind or doing something wrong and doing it again the day after.

Hello Gary,
I have never fitted a servo myself but in my Daimler dart days I know a lot of cars did have them retro fit.
Personally, being heavy footed, I don’t find it’s needed but can understand why some take that root. I tend to find that braking in older cars is a case of reading the road and using the engine as well as the brakes. That said I have an Austin Champ which is at the extreme of high foot pressure needed and learning to keep your distance is paramount. You not only need to apply foot pressure but you need to strain against the steering wheel as well.
I imagine you will need to decide what amount of feel you need before deciding on the aspect ratio of the servo.

Hello Gents,

Does anyone have a clear and legible wiring diagram of a Lucas CJR3 regulator and fuse box.
The copies available on the net are frankly shit and are indecipherable.
I am currently doing a complete rewire on my 16/66 and help in any form will be appropriated.

Thank you in advance,

Colin

Hello Robin,

I have dealt with Autosparks previously with my Daimler Darts (a proper sports car). And been happy.
So yes I bought a loom from them a couple of years ago and I have only come round to unpacking it and assessing it now. I soon realised that it was not as easy and straight forward as my past experiences. I have been in touch with them and they are willing to work with me to get it right in the hope that, short term I benefit but in the long run they can improve the supply to other P.V.T. customers. The plan is for me to use the loom supplied and adapt it as needed then return it to them to re-wrap it.
It will be a bit before I can get round to completing the task but will keep folk informed as and when it’s done. Who knows it may even get a write up ACtion.

Hello PVTers. I am about to rewire my 16/66 and was wondering if any advise could be passed on if members have tackled this before.
My cars Regulator has been updated from an FJR 50 to a CJR 3. If any relevant information is known of regarding such a change can be passed on then it may help me see through the fog a little easier.
Thank you in advance for any information forwarded.

General Discussion / Drive it Day

Hello Enthusiasts,
I will be in Warwickshire on Drive it Day, the 26th of April this year. Does anyone know of events or listing of events in the area to attend. An excuse to escape the family for the day seems an attractive idea.

Hello Robin, am I right in presuming that the housings are for the later engines rather than a modification to the pre war ones.

Depends on your enthusiasm, workshop equipment and personal skill.
If all are good and you have a manifold already to work from then go to a local exhaust suppliers after a quick measure up and ask to walk round and look at what they have. There is always some really inexpensive bits that can be chopped and mated to make up a system.
If all are lacking and you are looking for a top notch full flow system including shaped manifold and down pipe and you live close to Leeds then try TLE (Tony Law Exhausts). (Sorry don’t have a link).
If you want a slightly less expensive option but still done by others then you could get to know a friendly independent exhaust fitter. He may fancy something a little different than the usual humdrum Corsa or Focus and see it as a bit of a change to expand his horizons and find it interesting to cobble something up.

Thank you. I may wait though now until after Christmas due to the amount of extra post. The car won’t be back on the road for a while, hopefully spring.

As part of the rebuild of my 16/66 the colour has changed from black to dark grey. Actually it’s called Brownish Dark Grey.
The DVLA need to be informed and I wounded if any of the forum users have any tips or relevant information to ensure a smooth process.

Thanks in anticipation,

Colin

I tend to think that things like this depend on the use of the vehicles and the owners methods of maintaining said vehicles.
If the car is a museum piece and just run up for the occasional outing then it sound like a temping proposition. If however the car is to be used and maintained in any reasonable amount, then I am not so sure it is worth while.
The use and servicing of a car would ensure that it was in good health and can be run on standard equipment cost effectively.
