Hello Folks,
I currently have a list of jobs to do on the 16/66 but have been thwarted by the dreaded covid. I only have symptoms of a very mild cold but when an LFT was positive I decided to go for the PCR and it was also positive. The drive through test here in Leeds was excellent. Test at 4.00pm Saturday and results at 10.00am Sunday.
Its not the isolation that I dislike its the fact that while in the garage I don’t  have the bits to carry on doing something and I can’t go to get them. The only thing I can do is get it on the ramp ready and do some tinkering.
Stay safe everybody and look after yourselfs

At the moment I’m with RH and although I don’t think there the cheapest I am happy with the service and all the inclusive items. Funnily enough the most important thing to me is talking to someone without waiting. Listening to a recorded message crying the fact that its best to go on line really does piss me off. I have heard good reports about Abbeyfields but have no personal experience.

Sadly no, its not just you. The other sad thing is that it can be just as bad with other similar companies.
I had similar problems when I swapped cars but maybe not to that extent. Then When it came to annual renewal it was over £200 more. When I changed company Adrian Flux asked why I was changing and said they would match any quote. At that point I said no thank you.
The amazing thing is the quotes change on a day to day basis, something to do with algorithms I believe.

I had an invite to a small classic car show in Knarsborough last Sunday. It has been running for three or four years now (barring last year due to Covid). It is held in the parkland adjacent to St. John’s church and is  a fund raiser for the choir. The organisers are loosely termed as the Leeds Legal classic car enthusiasts, with a lot of members coming from one firm in particular with friends and relations. Roughly fourty to fifty cars turn up of various types. It’s a lovely little gathering with friendly people and a genuine interest in cars.
You may be pleased to know that the AC received the joint unofficial award for best in show along with a Bugatti type 57.
It is just good to be out and about again enjoying car gatherings. I am looking forward to going to Newby Hall in Ripon  next Sunday the 18th.

Glad you enjoyed your Jolly. I’m not worried about the Triumph motor, your car, and what makes you happy is fine with me.
I know a guy who put a Daimler V8 in a Triumph 2000 estate car. What comes round goes round. All we need now is an AC engine in a Daimler V8 250 and we would have a full three square circle.
It’s great to hear that you enjoyed a holiday during these odd times in the UK in a classic. I can’t wait to get out and about touring myself.

Vintage, PVT & 2 Litre Forum / Drive it Day.
« on: April 25, 2021, 22:34:54 »
I managed a run out both yesterday and today in my 16/66. About 40 miles each day in different directions. Enjoyed the runs as part of the running in process and getting some miles on before another oil and filter change.
It was mid to late afternoon for both runs so I didn’t see many other classics, just the odd one but all were nice enough to give a wave. I Hope other members had a good Drive It Day

Sadly I can’t, my cast offs are much earlier, but I can’t wait for the shows and Autojumbles to get going again so I can rummage for the bits I want.

If the EU don’t get to the same place it will mean a surcharge for a green card.
My suspicions of the insurance industry is that they will charge a premium anyway and find an excuse to extort us.

Judging by the mascot and the way the membership badges are mounted, on the AC, it wouldn’t surprise me if the owner was a bit of a character.

Glad to hear that your making progress. Looking at the weather and the dreaded salt on the roads it’s probably best where it is having the attention laden on it and then enjoying it when the conditions improve.

A thing of beauty is a joy forever. And that is what you have.
Well done with the work and enjoy it all you can.

To confirm, a bloater is a fish that puffs up to be quite large. When one has enjoyed too much excess then a man can begin to resemble such a fish.

The secret to these major projects is not to rush them. It looks pretty complete so hopefully you won’t have the frustration of having to search for elusive parts that cost the earth when they finally do turn up. It will be interesting to see it progress and if you stick to original specifications or change things to your personal taste.
A worthwhile project. I hope you stick with it and can enjoy it for a long time when it’s complete.

Look at the girth. Nothing to be proud of but it has cost a lot in time and money.
