Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Re: ACs at Bonhams 10 April

The unrestored Greyhound went for £40k.

Another one coming up at Silverstone:

That's a 3rd one in 2022 - after years of barely any cars changing hands.

Earlier this year I went to Redline Engr to completely overhaul my steering and suspension as there was a lot of play. Coincidentally, two of them had worked on the car over 20 yrs ago before the factory shut down and they knew the original owner. It's a tedious job to replace joints, trunnions etc...even requiring one off special tools - I always wonder why the engineers designing the car made it so difficult. The good news is that the parts come from the usual Triumph and Austin Healey catalogue - so minimal bespoke work. The result has been amazing - the car drives like new again and thoroughly enjoyed every other week.

Hi - I have twin SU's - std setup / no special tuning - but plenty of fun as it is.

Ah...it was raining - not pouring but a light greasy, slippery rain. They cancelled the noise tests so I was too tempted to play it safe with my noisy GT3 RS....(Gen 1 manual, analog though). Next time when it's dry it will be the AC's turn.

Thank you John.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Greyhound: advice for track day?
« on: May 31, 2020, 08:57:55 »
I'm taking my car for a friendly track day at Brands Hatch.
Any advice on things to tweak or to watch out for?
E.g. Kenlowe fan setting, leaving the bonnet slightly open so that the heat doesn't accumulate on the clutch and brake reservoirs. I have a Triumph engine...so I'm not too precious about how I treat it. Many thx!

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Greyhound: track day tow hook?
« on: May 26, 2020, 07:04:11 »
Hello - I signed up for a track day in Brands Hatch and I need to have a clearly visible tow hook in front. Any suggestions for a temporary solution that doesn't require welding? (I have stock bumpers).

Well spotted! It's been many months if not over year that a decent one was on the market.

In 2017, this Greyhound was sold on Bring a trailer:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1960-ac-greyhound/

It's now on offer in the UK for a more realistic price:
EBay #133019464272

Who's up for rescuing this beauty?

So far a good year to grace petrol heads with the appearance of a Greyhound:
- Haselmere Classic Tour
- Goodwood Club regional tour in Surrey (attended by Mike with his silver one)
- Hurlingham Club (in Fulham) Concours d'elegance (I was parked alongside a Mercedes 300SL and a Bentley 8L - and the irony is that my car was technically more rare / but I didn't win any prizes)
Any other noteworthy appearances?

Next up: the revival

For those who want to rebuild an engine from scratch, I have 2 blocks and 2 heads (no inlet / outlet manifolds though) - let me know if interested. Best,R
