I am surprised no one discussed converting to rack and pinion. I did that on my Ace Bristol and it transformed the car. We use it for long distance rallies and it has been brilliant.

I fitted this set when building my Ace Bristol. The car gets hard rally use and the engine STRONG.  Absolutely no issues fitting or using it.  Why replace an original part like this with an acknowledged weak link?  More than happy to use my Rack and pinion steering, full synchro close ratio gearbox and overdrive.  Great car.

We have had several specialist welders try this repair. No success...

I am well along on the restoration of BEX 279.  It turns out that my right rear suspension upright is cracked and welding has proven unsuccessful.  I am wondering if any one has a spare for sale?  Anyone who might have made new ones?
