   We all enjoyed meeting you yesterday.  Your car would certainly have received a lot of attention if it had been on display!!  Gods luck with the “minor”cosmetic work.  Look forward to seeing it  back on the road.

I do not intend to comment on the subject of whether or  not the stand is boring as such judgements are a matter of individual taste.  However, as a matter of fact it should understood that all expenses for accommodation, travel, etc. are borne by the individuals who show their cars and man the stand, not by the club.

My car ( Superblower - so built some years after the Lightweights) has the VIN stamped on the x frame that lbs situated between the front suspension towers.  Also has a second chassis plate (same as that on the drivers foot box) riveted on the right hand main chassis tube, a visible VIN behind the windscreen ( it was beguile after this became mandatory ) and many of the trim and other components have the last 4 digits written on them in felt tip pen.

   I believe this is SB7009.   Coys says it is No 9 of 18   -  7019 is obviously a figment of my imagination!  Their motive may be that they tried to sell 7018 earlier this year as the "18th of 18 cars built"?   Also the first batch of Superblower had non SB prefixes so the actual number produced is 27.

   I presume that the mk3 427 reference is to the AC built "Continuation" cars. If considering one of these people should check that there are not any issues with the DVLA regarding their status.

   The US car does not appear to be a "proper" lightweight and looks more like a standard MK IV with some modifications.
   
   The Superblower is a MK IV with 302 ( not 427 ) engine plus Supercharger.  The interior has significant "improvements" that are not to everyone's taste.  If considering one of these you need to check if the fuel system and sensor placements have been modified to overcome underfueling issues that the car has in ex factory form.
   
   Good luck with your hunt - all variants can provide a tremendous level of enjoyment and their relative simplicity means that they can easily and cheaply maintained. There are quite a few well respected specialists in the South East.

I can see 2 features that would be on a lightweight ( flat dash bottom and shorter nose ) and at least 16 elements that differentiate a lightweight from a normal ( if such a thing exists) Mkiv that are not on on this vehicle.  Still looks like a nice car though.

Posts and responses like this are one of the reasons I love this forum.
   
   I had wondereded for many years what these canisters were for and about 6 years ago had their explained to me, but only in general terms.
   
   As my car now has a heavily revised fuel system  and a Motec ECU I had wondered about removing them as presumed they no longer served any purpose.  Having read the very detailed and informative replies to Constant's post I suspect they may be still be required in order to avoid a vacuum forming in the tank.  Rather than risk this they will now certainly stay in place.

Looks like the final bid was £24550 plus auction fees, making a total of around £26.5k.  30 minutes before the deadline the highest bid was £3.5k.   Be interesting to see where the car turns up once it has been fixed.  It might make a good track car as the engine photos suggest that it was previously set set up for circuit use ( dry sump? Etc.)?

   Excellent news!  Would love to see ( and hear) a clip of it when it is fired up.  Mine is running really well at the moment - only trouble is I'm not using it as much as I should.
