The gearstick is different as the ACE had a much shorter stick to clear the dashboard.
The other difference is the actual gear stick turret. On the ACE box is is much shorter than the 2 litre version.
Again, this was to help clearance on the gearbox tunnel. It is also the same as on the Morgan boxes.
Billy Berringer of Morgan fame produced some DRIVELINE versions as I recall.
The Clutch Pedal on a 2 litre joins directly to the cross shaft whereas the ACE is an hydraulic affair.
To use a 2 litre box you have to jig the shaft around a little and get a slave cylinder stay bar.

Hi.

If anyone has a Buckland gearstick and a rev counter I would be eternally grateful.

I have attached pictures to help identify the parts.

The gearstick is a very distinctive shape and nothing like the 2 litre.

The Rev counter working or not would be of interest.

Many thanks.

Paul.

I am not sure if this is allowed here or not?

I have a set of headers for the 6cyl engine in polished stainless. The mounting plates are made of 15mm to beef them up and stop them warping causing exhaust leak as many of the originals did.

I thought I would offer them to club members before I put them on a well known auction site.

I am looking for £1400 for the pair and I am happy to post worldwide at buyers costs etc.

Many thanks.

Paul.

To add. This is from a Morgan Box and the cover plate is stamped with the same number found on the AC Box. 60407.

Hi.

In the picture you can see the Ac 2 litre Moss box and AC Ace version of the same.

The top plates are different.

I am after the AC ACE version - has anyone got one or know how to get one? Is it Morgan?

Many thanks.

Paul

Anyone know what grommet fits the ACE and a likely supply?

Picture attached.

Best.

I was at the Beaulieu International Autojumble and Overdrive Repair Services were there. They rebuilt the gearbox. After a lengthy conversation they felt something had not been done correctly so the box is out and with them now. We'll see if there is any improvement on its return. I have a new release bearing and the different in material is less than 1mm, so it looks like that was all OK.

Thanks. It is a new bearing. Could be the issue?

Hi All - I hope this finds you well?

I have recently had my gearbox and overdrive rebuilt by Overdrive Repair Services.

They have done around 4 boxes and overdrives for me over the years and no issues to speak of.

The clutch is adjusted to as far as it can go.

Oil is at full and it is EP90 as recommended.

What happens is that changing down from fourth to third gives a little crunch

Changing down from third to second is nigh on impossible and when you do a nice crunch is audible.

No synchromesh on first - all good.

Overdrive goes in and out fine.

If I forget to disengage the overdrive and try first and reverse it is not a happy scenario and appears to lock up a little and judder.
I have a Triumph TR4A with a similar box and overdrive set up and this never happens.

Any thoughts on what I might do solve that lot?

Best wishes.

Paul.

I have bought one of these from Robin for my ACE and they are great. Perfect fit that takes modern racing thermostats.

So, most of my work on Ae220 has been trouble free but this conundrum needs the expertise of better men.

The thermostat in the pictures is stuck open. Better than stuck closed.

So, I have some questions.

1: How do you get it out of the housing (trying not to damage anything)

2: Can you get replacements?

3: Are there any other alternatives?

Your learned answers very welcome.

Best wishes

Paul.
