ACOC News and Events / AC Heritage on awards shortlist
« on: October 17, 2017, 01:26:27 »
Great to see that AC Heritage have been shortlisted into the top five from over a thousand specialist historic car related businesses by Octane magazine for its Specialist of the Year award.

The AC brand is definitely moving up in the public view and no longer purely basking in the Cobra's limelight I feel. Steve has done a lot of work for me over the years and I have always felt that every car mattered to him and his employees.

Great article on the Bruno Ferrari Ace in Octane magazine this month. I love that colour.

Once again, preparations are in hand to put on a highly diversified display of AC cars and memorabilia at this ever growing event. All are welcome and you just need to turn up and park within the confines of Britain's oldest motor racing circuit in Weybridge, Surrey to enjoy the spectacle of well over a thousand classic cars on the Brooklands banking. As usual, the AC cars will be grouped at the top of the test hill and a number of invitations have already been extended to particular cars for the main display. However, that does not preclude others from showing up in their AC cars as before. Parking at the top of the test hill will be by invitation only. Further information will appear on the Team AC Facebook page too.

Last year there were ex-factory staff in attendance and the AC and Autokraft factory 'bibles' were available for inspection, as well as AC cars from all eras. It is a great day out regardless and the museum is very interesting too.

ACOC News and Events / AC Bonanza - Brooklands NYD
« on: December 30, 2015, 20:14:13 »
Overwhelmed by the response of AC Owners Club members and general enthusiasts alike for New Years Day. The weather is looking very positive too. It is fitting that the AC marque wlll be represented so well at Brooklands where AC Cars set many records in the 1920's and, the winners' cups will be on display. It was also only today decided that the original factory ledgers for both AC Cars Thames Ditton and Autokraft cars will be put on display for the first time. The display will also be supported by a significant number of AC cars from all eras. Follow the Team AC facebook page for updates - 'Team AC facebook' will take you there in your browser.
Once again, all are welcome to browse and learn more about the full AC story.

ACOC News and Events / AC line up : Brooklands Museum, New Years Day
« on: December 08, 2015, 21:23:52 »
I visited Steve Gray again today at his AC Heritage, Brooklands facility and he shared his updated plans with me for the New Years Day meeting. The workshop and showroom will be opened up and a stunning line up of customer AC cars will be on display. These include a period MK 111 Cobra, Bruno Ferrari's Mille Miglia Ace, the Mary Seed Australian Land Speed Record Ace Bristol, Greyhounds, Aceca's, Ken Rudd's Racing AC engined Ace, the Peking to Paris unique 1927 Weymann bodied sedan and a beautiful AC 428 Convertible. Later cars include a Mk1V CRS and an AC Superblower with a very rare factory hard top. In fact there is just too much to list and work will continue behind the scenes over the next few weeks. Over 55 Period AC Trophies won by AC Cars at Brooklands and other meetings in the 1920's, which include records set by drivers such as Kaye Don, JA Joyce and SF Edge will be there too. For the Brian Angliss Autokraft enthusiasts there will be cars and artifacts from that period and a 1965 Team Shelby liveried race hauler that was part of the recent Goodwood Revival Daytona display will also be present.

All are welcome to come and browse and enjoy. You just need to turn up, preferably in your classic car, and line up on the banking with a couple of thousand other cars. That alone is worth a day out.

ACOC News and Events / Brooklands Museum, Weybridge, New Years Meeting

This event gets bigger every year with thousands of classic cars turning up.
Steve Gray will again be opening up the doors to his AC Heritage facility at the top of the test hill in the former Members Restaurant. There will be many AC's and Aston Matrins etc on show again, including some under restoration in the workshop sections. The first Goodwood AC racer will also be on show, fresh from its recent Revival outing as well as many other interesting AC Derivatives and memorabilia/original jigs and body bucks - Cobras/Aces etc. Not to be missed - all are welcome.

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / AC archives
« on: August 10, 2015, 14:15:07 »
I managed to spend a few hours on Saturday looking throgh the AC Heritage archives and Steve Gray was, as usual, extremely accomodating to the point of my embarrassment. We discussed all of the model changes and relevant dates as they came up and it was interesting to examine some original factory drawings etc. It is amazing what is available and nice to know that it is still treasured and preseved as an authoratative source for future generations.

Whilst flicking throgh the drawings, we again came across the MK111 designation on a factory drawing - a different one to the one I have seen before I think. We debated matters at length and I would love to know whether this was just a prototype pre-production drawing or whether AC used the MK111 term as a current model specific designation.

I have just returned from AC Heritage this morning where Steve Gray is having a spares and parts clear out. There is a lot of stuff that has been liberated from his storage containers and relates to all AC models pretty much. Give hime a call - you never know...

General Forum / New Years Day - Brooklands
« on: January 03, 2015, 20:19:08 »
I went to the Brooklands New Years Day meet and there was an excellent array of  AC cars on display. The AC Heritage workshop and showrooms were also opened up and well over a thousand enthusiasts walked through the doors. It is surprising how many people know the brand and are keen to talk about it, and not just the Cobra that nearly everyone knows of course.

I am no photographer but, if you google Team AC you will see some excellent pictures from the event, as well as some other fascinating AC stuff from all eras. It is all on Facebook of course...

I don't know if anyone needs a set of OE front suspension top ball joints for a MK1V? I have just picked up a set from AC Heritage in their original wrappings. There are only a very few more sets left and they are unobtainable now from Quinton Hazel whom I believe went bust. It will be a pain to get them remanufactured one day.

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / 39 PH : Evidence of a new chassis
« on: April 05, 2014, 23:02:47 »
This one has long puzzled me. The original Thames Ditton factory bible has a number of new chassis recorded as being supplied to both Ace and Cobra cars as replacements following accident damage in period. But what of 39 PH I wonder, although I know that 13 COB, the ex Bell and Colvill car, has reportedly revealed a relevant chassis number during a restoration.

General Forum / Team AC on Facebook - great photos
« on: February 14, 2014, 23:23:08 »
For those that are interested in viewing photographs of AC's, google AC Heritage and Team AC on Facebook should also come up. If you are young enough to have never worn flared trousers then you may know how to access Facebook anyway.

There are some fabulous photographs of AC's old and new, including restorations and period factory shots. There are also some period Le Mans and Goodwood pics including Team Shelby Daytona and Cobras in Viking Blue livery. Everything from Vintage to the current 378GT Zagato and some tyre smoking up the Brooklands test hill.

   Highly recommended!
