I have a set of original MK IV side curtains for sale. They are tan in color and came off a car that was totaled about 10 or so years ago. I had AK1103 and bought the side curtains just to have an extra set. The car they came off of was red with tan top and interior. The curtains are in great shape and come with the tan storage bag. What are they worth? Let me know if you are interested. John

I just posted my car, AK1103, on ebay again. I tried to sell it earlier in the year with no success. I have revised the price so am hoping it will find a new home. If you or anyone you know has questions, or interest, please let me know. Thanks and Merry Christmas. John

I am listing my MKIV for sale. I thought I would offer it up here first. If anyone is interested,  respond to this post with contact info or email me. It has a Roush all aluminum engine and other modifications  installed by Jack Roush and right around 4000 miles. I will send photos and more information to interested parties. Let me know. I will be listing it this weekend.

I just read the results from the Mecum auction at Kissimee and it looks like AK1120 sold for $90,000.

Has anyone been following recent auctions for MK IV cars that have sold?  I want to increase the insurance on mine and the agent said that I need to come up with some indication that the value has increased, such as recent auction results. If anyone has this info, please post it.  USA auction results would be best as the company, American Collectors, is in the US. Thanks.

Hi,

I have reviewed your entire post concerning the restoration of your cobra and am quite impressed. I am in the process of having my head gaskets replaced and my mechanic has hit a roadblock. He cannot access the header bolts with the engine in place and cannot remove the engine without removing the headers. I noticed in your post, you show the engine on a hoist to be lowered into the car and the noxt photo shows the engine in, with headers installed. I wondered whether you could describe the sequence you used to remove the engine. Did you have to take the transmission out first? Did you have to lift the engine to access the header bolts? The engine in my car is a 351 Windsor based Roush engine. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks. John

Just thought I would wish everyone a happy new year. I hope we can all put many healthy, happy, carefree miles on our Mk IV's this year. I am hoping to get mine out of the shop before spring. It has a blown head gasket that is letting oil into the coolant. At least I hope its only a head gasket! John

I just got my MK IV inspected last week and was looking forward to an enjoyable summer of driving. After a 100 mile drive over the weekend, on Monday I went to check the coolant level and discovered that the header tank contained a significant amount of oil. I drove the car only about 200 miles last year and noticed that the engine was down over a quart of oil. Now I know where it went. I suspect that I have a bad head gasket. There is no coolant in the oil and I have read that the head gasket can blow between an oil passage and coolant passage allowing oil to get into the coolant. Does anyone have any other ideas or theories about this that involve something less than engine disassembly? All ideas appreciated. John

Since it has been a month since the last post on this forum, I thought I'd break the ice and wish everyone a happy new year. I have been able to drive my MKIV on the previous 3 January 1sts. Not this year though. We have several inches of slushy snow on the ground and more on the way here in lovely Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. John

I have been trying to locate either a lower front ball joint to purchase or a part number for one. I know that some have reported that Saab ball joints were used, however the Saab ball joint holes do not match up. I have emailed Brooklands several times and have never received an answer as to whether they have the part available. Does anyone have a part number or a ball joint available for purchase? I can't believe that Autokraft had special ball joints made for the 400 or so cars that were produced. Has anyone replaced their ball joint? If we can get an answer to this puzzle, all will benefit in the long run. Thanks. John

Does anyone have a part number for the left rear brake caliper?  I boiled my fluid today as the left rear caliper was hanging up. My car is AK1103, with an October 1985 manufacturing date.  Also, my friend needs a lower balljoint for the right front of his MK IV. His is a 1989 model. Can anyone identify the manufacturer of the front suspension or ball joint?  Thanks. John

I know it's winter in the northeast US and everyone in my neck of the woods is chomping at the bit to drive their cars again, but that's no reason that we haven't had a post on this board for a week. In an attempt to stimulate some discussion, conversation, outrage, etc., I am posting a couple of photos I took of my car and another MK IV in September of last year at Hartwood Acres in suburban Pittsburgh, PA. In additon to the MK IVs, there were a couple of CSX cars there as well. If I can find photos of them I will post them as well.

My car is the blue one with white stripes.

My friend's car is the silver one. There is a factory five car next to ours, the red one.

I grew tired of having my fuel gauge reading more than half a tank when it was near empty and my temperature gauge reading 140 degrees celcius when I am able to put my hand on the engine. I purchased a solid state voltage stabilizer and went to install it this past weekend. After spending a half hour on my back under the dash with a trouble light, I was still unable to find the offending unit. Does anyone know the location of the voltage stabilizer or whether instruments need to be removed to access it?  All helpful hints will be appreciated. John AK1103

The passenger side curtain on my MK IV does not fit into the holes in the door. The pins almost fit but do not line up exactly. This has caused a great degree of anxiety both with me trying to figure out what to do, as well as with jbottini, who is poised to purchase my extra set of side curtains (from a wrecked MK IV) if I can get the original ones to work. Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do to fix it?  I was going to cut the pin off and weld it back on, but am afraid this will ruin the leather covering and make a mess of things. I was under the impression that the top and side curtains must have been test fitted at the factory, prior to the car being shipped. The bag for the curtains is marked in crayon with my car number so I figure the curtains are the ones that came with the car. The door was not wrecked and it appears the sockets for the curtains are in their original locations.  Any ideas would be appreciated. John
