Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AE 501

Hello folks,

this is just to keep you informed, that AC Aceca AE 501 is back on the road!  8)
Finally after 20 years of restauration (and other life circumstances) I managed to finish the project - nearly. There is still a grinding noise coming from the left rear brake backplate when cornering to the right, a hard vibration between 1800 and 2000 revs, still some air in the breaking system (thanks to the horror of bleeding the rear ones) and an incredible heat in the foot boxes. So any further ideas are still very welcome!

But closing the project I didn't want to miss to say a big "THANK YOU" to all my brave helpers - maybe with parts, maybe with tips, maybe with ideas and discussions.
Than there were in random order: Ken Rudd (RIP), Rod Briggs, Brian Eacott, Luke Sowemimo, Peter Kelb, Mike Otto, Jan Cruysberg, Gerd Klöckner and so many more.
Thanks guys, stay healthy and farther happy motoring!

Chris

Hello all together!

I want to change the bleeders on my Aceca's drum brake cylinders. Does anyone know about the threads I need?

Thanks a lot for every hint    (by the way.....should be the same as used for the callipers on later cars with discs in front?)

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aceca Sunvisors
« on: May 22, 2018, 10:06:22 »
Hello at all,

I'm looking for a pair of usable sunvisors or even the triangular brackets for my Aceca AE501. I tried Brasscraft and they know what I need, but they are not able to produce only a pair for me (may be they need a bigger order?). I know the sunvisors are same like MG A coupe, but this doesn't make it easier anyway.

So if some of you could help, I would be very much appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

Chris

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aceca doors

After 15 years of restauration effort time has come to get my Aceca AE 501 back on the road. She's now back on her first colour scheme "maroon" and one years work on the 60 years old leather has ended in usable Interieur with that special patina you can't buy for money. I think, this may be the only 3 seater in the market? First owner Ken Rudd decided to give her a little bench instead of a co-drivers seat [8D].

One of the last problems to solve is the flush closing of the doors. After fitting the new door seals, both doors come out about 5 mm when closed. The big sprockets on the doors show no signs of extensive wear, but after the "click" they come back just this little amount. The next "click" is too far away because of the new seals. What would you prefer to do???

By the way - if anyone of the readers has any information about the history of AE 501 or AEX 201 (my Ace) please don't hesitate to tell me even the smallest thing.

Hoping to get some usefull hints - happy motoring for all,
   Chris

P.S. if someone tells me how to put some pics in, I'll try my very best!
