... followed his 1959 Le mans winning team mate Carroll Shelby into Patrol Heaven, when he passed away on June, 3rd. He not only drove many races with Carroll, he also participated the Brands Hatch in July 1964 in a Cobra (and finished 3rd), the TT in HEM-6 in August (dnf) and drove several events in a FORD GT and in a King Cobra powered Cooper Monaco (64/65).

General Forum / P. Brown wanted and K. Lessiter
« on: October 24, 2009, 21:32:42 »
In the September issue of ACTION there were some pictures of the AC Willment Cobra 427 S/C Supersonic Coupe printed, showing the "Prince of Billericay" (owner of the car) and me besides the car (Page 26, bottom left). I would love to have the photo to print it and to put it on the wall.
There was anotherone (maybe K. Lessiter) who photographed J. Sears (and probably me) signing my book.
Any chance to get these pictures? Thanks!

General Forum / 60th Anniversary Booklet
« on: August 17, 2009, 08:38:27 »
When I returned from my holidays I found the ACOC 60th Anniversary Booklet in my letterbox.
Chapeau to every body who worked on it - great job! I enjoyed all the wonderful pictures. Even my family was delighted to see all the AC Cars and to get to know something about the AC history.
I´m proud to be member of the ACOC community and what really impresses me, how many people contribute to the publications of the club. Even the quality and deversity of the ACtion magazine is remarkable!
I´m quite sure there not many clubs in the world that can match the ACOC publications.
Well done, folks, and keep on like you did!

General Forum / Larry H. Miller died
« on: March 05, 2009, 19:50:16 »
Today I got informations about Larry H. Millers dead from the Shelby American Collection. He was one of the foremost Shelby Enthusiasts and he died on February, 20th 2009, at the age of 64.
He left a collection of very remarkable cars, such as CSX 2002 - the first Shelby Team car and the first Cobra appearing on a race track driven by Bill Krause in 1962. His two Coupes (Shelby CSX 2299 - most successful of the Cobra breed - and Willment CSX 2131) participated at Goodwood. P1015 and P1021, the two 1964 Le Mans winning GT 40s, are part of his collection as well. His dedication to race cars led to his Miller Motorsports Park (see http://www.millermotorsportspark.com/), where he had his cars exhibited in a museum. The cars have been interchanged between his museum and the Shelby American Collection.
He is said to have been a friendly and honest man, who was dedicated to the sport and a great supporter of sport, i.e. the Utah basketball team.
His funeral on last saturday was as remarkable as he as a person was. According to his passion, his coffin was painted guardsman blue with white stripes. The Hearse was followed by some of his Cobras, driven by his sons (he had five).
A huge loss to all the Shelby and Cobra enthusiasts. See pictures and video of the celebration at http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=5720629.

General Forum / Classic & Sports Car 2/09 Clarification P 37
« on: January 08, 2009, 10:11:25 »
There was a misinterpretation of my letter to C&CS which was partly printed on page 37 in the february issue concerning the results of the Cobra Coupes in FIA GT world championship races.
   The correct listing is:
   CSX 2286 1 DNF
CSX 2287 one 1st place, one 6th place, one 8th place, four DNF, one DQ
CSX 2299 five 1st places, one 2nd place, one 4th place, two DNF
CSX 2300 one 2nd place, three 3rd places, one DNF
CSX 2601 five 1st places, one 2nd place, two DNF
CSX 2602 3 2nd places, one 5th place, two DNF
CSX 2131 (Willment) one 6th place, one DNF
(errors accepted due to different informations from different resources).
Obviously CSX 2299 and 2601 were the most successful of the 7 Coupés. Not mentioned is the AC Coupé (A98), one DNF at le Mans 64 (fatal crash).
I would like to correct the correction right here for those ones, who are aware that the correction in C&CS is wrong. Sorry about that.
