Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / BEX 1165 for Sale
« on: December 13, 2023, 18:46:16 »

This project is on Bring-a-Trailer:

Lots of work needed depending on which direction you want to go and how much you want to spend.

In watching a video of the Pacific Grove Rally during this week's Monterey Car Week there was a brownish Acceca and later a V8 powered Acecca was announced as the winner of the Best British Car (or at least I believe that was the award).

Would that have been AEX521?

There was also a nice grey 1930's AC tourer in the event.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Ace 2.6 Engine Color
« on: March 17, 2022, 23:10:39 »
Can anyone tel me what the correct engine block color for the Ace 2.6 Ford Zephyr? My recollection is a lighter green but I've seen blue and black and Jim Feldman's car which sold last year appears to be red.

Asking for someone doing a restoration.

Nice short video and interview with story and photos.

I was a corner worker in Tucson when this car was raced in period by Gil Raney.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / 1951 AC Ace - Ford Tool Room Copy
« on: August 12, 2018, 04:33:07 »
Is this the same car which was for sale for several years before being sold at Coys? Wat is a "Ford Tool Room Copy"?

The proportions in the photos look odd, sort of like a toy photographed to look like a real car.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / California Photo Library
« on: October 08, 2014, 02:47:40 »
I just found that the Stanford University Library in California has established a very large photo library related to automobiles.

There are not a large number of images categorized under "AC" but in looking at one collection (Webb Canepa)I found a number of early 1960 images at various California venues (I didn't know there were sports car races at South Lake Tahoe and the Stockton race in the rain is pure pandemonium (including Ace #17)!). The only car I identified was the Pellandrini "Beware 1" for which there is a specific topic on the forum.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Monterey Events 2013
« on: August 18, 2013, 01:00:06 »
In looking at photos from the Concours at Quail lodge this week I saw this light green Ace. The livery, number, racing screen, etc. appears to be the Ace raced by Gil Ranney out of San Diego in the late 1960's (see my photo just after page 93 in the Mclellan/Bancroft book).

Amazingly it seems to have survived as raced 47 years ago! By chance was anyone there and did they get an ID number?

I also saw that BEX 1090 was offered at the Bonhams auction at Quali Lodge.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AC Ace vs. Ferrari 166
« on: January 24, 2013, 03:16:38 »
I've always loved the linkage from the design/look of the AC Ace/Tojeiro vs. the early Ferrari 166/212 Barchetta (one of my life long favorites).

Now I see this 1950 Ferrari 166 coupe which from the rear and side has an amazingly similar look of an Aceca (particularly when the side shot is compared to the recently advertised black Aceca with the bad front end rework:

Is this some long lost unknown A.C. model? Modern replica of the 2 liter???

In the US this is known as an Excalibur, originally it was a replica of the Mercedes SSK designed by Brook Stevens!
