A friend of mine is assembling his 289, sitting in the garage for more or less one decade.

He is missing the exhaust manifolds and want to get hold of the "Y" cast exhaust manifolds seen on the street cars.

Were can he buy 4 of the "Y" manifolds today? Is Gerry at Hawk Cars perhaps a source for the manifolds ?

The next question relates to the nudge bar at the front. In most pictures of a 289 street, the nudge bar is slightly curved when viewed from above. Are they all curved or does it depend on the year?

What source is there for the curved nudge bars?

Thank you in advance, Uwe

I‘m looking for the ACtion edition showing the guideline how to adjust the MK IV rose joints.

It was explained there what adjustments in turns at the rose joints resulted in what adjustment in degrees.

Many thanks, Uwe

Hello,

can someone shed some light on the AK2000 - AK2003 suffixes? What does the 2 mean?

Thanks, Uwe

After TÜV inspection 2 weeks before i needed to replace my tie rods or inner tie rods, the descriptions sometimes are different but it is that part at Moss:
https://mossmotors.com/tie-rod-1

Best would be a tie rod assembly ( #3 in the link below) or just the single parts like the rod, the ball housing, ball housing locking nut and the seat.

I tried to find MGB spares for the listed parts above but had no luck to locate new spares here in Germany.

Does anyone have a good source for the MGB parts I need urgently?

I replaced the worn tie rods with used original parts but want to rework the steering rack during next winter.

Thanks, Uwe

Link with steering rack parts:
https://mossmotors.com/mgb/suspension-steering/steering/steering-rack-and-components

PS: It is not possible to buy a "new" rack and use the inner parts for an original MGB rack rework. The external interfaces will fit inside a MGB but all the internals are completely different and from lower quality. Ask me how i know..

Recent ACs / Again?
« on: April 27, 2022, 23:16:40 »
That was posted in the German Cobra Forum:
The story continues, and we will manufacture another 663 legendary AC Cobras. Get in touch: https://accobra.com/

The Gentleman who posted it explained that:

Behind AC Cars Group AG is a Swiss investor group that has acquired AC Cars Ltd in England. We will publish the international press release at the end of May. Until then, you can register on our landing page to stay up to date.

And later after some comments and questions:

https://www.accars.eu/ Is now part of the new company. Websites will be merged shortly. Please wait for the press release or register to stay up to date.

Do we have any information or news about that?

As most of You may know our MK IVs were also shown in the former and actual SAAC World Registry of Cobras and GT 40s.

The SAAC informed its members that a new SAAC world registry will be set up and the club is actually collecting details about the 60s period cars CSX 2xxx and CSX3xxx, the COB and COX cars will also be listed.

I asked Ned Scudder if the next version of the SAAC World Registry will show our MK IVs as it was until today

According to Ned the next release of the SAAC world registry will not implement our MK IVs and "will only be dealing with the period cars from the 60’s, hence no Brian Angliss or Autokraft cars will be in the next one."

So if you are a AC MK IV owner and want to have a SAAC World Registry showing your car keep the actual issue  :)

But..... if no Brian Angliss car will be in the next Registry some existing "original" CSX cars will just.....disappear.....(just kidding)  ;D

On some early cars I found steering column cowl / covers (the cover in front of the steering wheel) stalk and heater control different from the later models.

Can someone identify what car spent the steering column, covers and stalk shown in the below pictures? BLMC?

Was it classic Mini MK3, the stalk/switch looks more or less the same as in the early Mini MK3 RH to me ?

The only thing i did not check 2 years before during my MK IV rebuild was the rear hub assembly on my MK IV.

Now, I think on the Silvretta high alpine road, it happened, the lousy thin shims between the wheel bearings and spacer gave up, a quite big endplay in the bearings caused the outer cone to walk around on the hub.

The right hub is worn out where the outer bearing cone sits and need to be replaced.

Does anybody know who in the UK has the MK IV hubs in stock ??

   I highly appreciate every support.

We planned a Cobra holiday in Italy for the first week in September enjoying good wine and food in the Barolo area.......hopefully with the repaired car.[:0]

Hey MK IV owners !

I need to rework or at least check the rear wheel bearings during the next winter period because of some too big end play on the hubs and would like to order the parts in advance.

Can someone give support with the part numbers for rear wheel bearings and inner and outer seals?

There are a lot of posts about the rear wheel bearing topic in the MK IV forum but the part numbers were never mentioned.

The front bearings are on my shelf and as soon as I can confirm fitment, the part# will be posted in my "AK 1106" thread.

Hello all,

TÜV approval is on hold because my lower bushings on the front Konis are gone. The rubber portion was comming out and the bushings need to be replaced.

Before i start casting my own bushings from PU I would like to know if there is some source for replacement parts.

Do yo know some source for the so called lower "shock eye bushings" for the original Koni Dampers?

They are the flexible ones on the front lower damper.

   Thanks, Uwe

Hello all,

a MK IV owner here in Germany damaged one of his 16" front wheels and is looking for a replacement.

Who want to sell a not needed spare or left over to bring the car back on the road ?

Is it possible to pull out the bellhousing and the t5 and keep the engine in place?

I disassembled and assembled the complete car for my rework but don't know if it is possible just to pull the transmission and bellhousing.

I need to do it because the clutch release arm has a broken spring at the pivot side and i need to replace the arm now.

I installed the engine together with the clutch and bellhousing and afterwards installed the transmission to avoid handling problems and damages after the new paint job was done.

Can i disassemble the bellhousing from the engine in the car with engine in place or is there not enough room inside the frame, cross tubes and body to do so?

Don't want to pull the engine.

   Uwe

And the next time i will replace all worn out parts......[:I]
