Dear All,

I’m looking for a Brake master cylinder for AEX 31. It is a cast iron Girling with Girling number 3102542W. Please see the attached image. If anybody had got one, or know about one that is or could be for sale any hints or tips will be greatly appreciated.

It doesn’t have to be perfect, just as long as it’s in a restorable condition, i.e. no cracks.

I’m also looking for one side of rear brake shoes for 31. Girling numbers GB 41540 and GB 41542.

Top dollar paid!

Thanks in advance for any help with finding these parts.

Kind regards

Jonas

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Period photographs
« on: November 09, 2022, 16:22:07 »
Dear all,

Every now and then I come across interesting period photos from the AC factory or from other sources that hold valuable information. So my question is if the club or any individuals have any images that could possibly be shared in one way or another. It could be a valuable resource for anybody restoring their cars. It would obviously be beneficial if the images could be scanned to a high resolution and then be made available one way or another?

I realise that my question is somewhat vague but I suspect that there are some great images lying hidden in drawers that could help us interested in keeping our cars as original as possible.

So if anybody has any images that they could consider sharing or selling or if the club has any please let me know.

Kind regards Jonas

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AC Ace steering box?
« on: June 23, 2022, 15:06:01 »
Dear all,

AEX 31 has done something like 80.000 km and so has the steering box. With the help of a knowledgeable friend we replaced all the moving parts that we could so I guess it’s as good as it can get, without changing the worm and peg, so with modern Michelin X’s it’s tracking a bit at higher speeds.

So my question is simple, is there anybody out there that has a very good or even nos steering box or at least a new worm and maybe a column that they want to sell? To me!

I know one can buy new worms from TR specialists but I have also heard that the quality of these new worms aren’t very good. Also if anybody has any experience with new parts and tracking problems in general it would be interesting to hear about the experience that others with old Ace’s and Aceca’s have had.

Many thanks in advance for any input.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / SU H2 hydraulic dampers
« on: May 07, 2022, 19:51:48 »
Dear all,

I’ve been wondering about the carburettors on AEX 31. They are H2 like they should be, however they haven’t got any dampers. Maybe this is correct but as far as I understand for the SU H-type - the addition of the hydraulic piston damper carburettors were introduced as early as in August 1947.

So I’m curious what kind of carburettors other early Aces or Acecas out there have? That could be expected to be original.

The carburettor bodies on AEX 31 are branded PDC 3229.

Grateful if anybody could shed some light on this.

Dear all,

I’m looking for original, rear brake adjuster spanner and bleeder socket tool
for AEX 31 which is an AC engined Ace from 1954.

It doesn’t really matter if they are original or reproductions as long as they
look like the original ones.

Any hints or tips gratefuly appreciated. Or if anybody would have any for sale:

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Oily speedometer
« on: April 06, 2021, 19:47:01 »
Dear All,

I’ve encountered a problem that I hope somebody on this forum might
have encountered or at least heard about.

After changing the gearbox in AEX 31 two years ago I find oil pushing up
through the speedometer cable, and subsequently filling the speedometer
with lovely gearbox lubricant! At First I preasumed that since the “new”
gearbox didn’t have a breather, fitting one would solve or lessen the problem
but it didn’t...

I’ve been thinking that something might be missing from the speedometer drive
in the gearbox. I’ve included an images hopping that somebody might be able
to tell me if there is a seal or gasket missing somewhere.

Very grateful for any help or learned opinions.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Carburettors for early Aces
« on: July 19, 2020, 14:21:00 »
Dear all,

With some time on my hands I started looking into the carburettors on my car AEX 31. The ones that are fitted in my car are SU H2 with the carburettor body bearing the number PDC 3229q.

This is a early type of H2 carburettor that hasn’t got any damper in the dashpot.

I guess that these are the original type for my car but since I’m not a 100% sure I started wondering what type that are fitted to other early cars. Anybody out there that can tell me what type their cars have fitted? If you do reply, please also give the chassis number of your car please.

Grateful for any response on the subject.

Kind regards Jonas

« on: January 18, 2018, 17:17:07 »
Dear all,

Would anybody happen to know which box spanner that came with the tool kit for the earliest Ace’s?

My car is AEX 31. I have seen in a couple of places that it should be a Jenbro, however unsure about the size...

Any help greatly appreciated, an image would be fantastic!

Dear All,

I'm looking for for original looking fuel lines for
   my 1954 Ace.

In a Bonhams auction last year a Bristol engined car
looks like it has "newly" made fuel lines, that look
   just like the original type.

   http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20994/lot/170/

Does anybody know if there is somebody that can supply
   this?

   Any help greatly appreciated.

   Regards

   Jonas
