Hi.

If anyone has a Buckland gearstick and a rev counter I would be eternally grateful.

I have attached pictures to help identify the parts.

The gearstick is a very distinctive shape and nothing like the 2 litre.

The Rev counter working or not would be of interest.

Many thanks.

Paul.

I am not sure if this is allowed here or not?

I have a set of headers for the 6cyl engine in polished stainless. The mounting plates are made of 15mm to beef them up and stop them warping causing exhaust leak as many of the originals did.

I thought I would offer them to club members before I put them on a well known auction site.

I am looking for £1400 for the pair and I am happy to post worldwide at buyers costs etc.

Many thanks.

Paul.

Hi.

In the picture you can see the Ac 2 litre Moss box and AC Ace version of the same.

The top plates are different.

I am after the AC ACE version - has anyone got one or know how to get one? Is it Morgan?

Many thanks.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Gearbox help
« on: August 27, 2021, 18:18:13 »
Hi All - I hope this finds you well?

I have recently had my gearbox and overdrive rebuilt by Overdrive Repair Services.

They have done around 4 boxes and overdrives for me over the years and no issues to speak of.

The clutch is adjusted to as far as it can go.

Oil is at full and it is EP90 as recommended.

What happens is that changing down from fourth to third gives a little crunch

Changing down from third to second is nigh on impossible and when you do a nice crunch is audible.

No synchromesh on first - all good.

Overdrive goes in and out fine.

If I forget to disengage the overdrive and try first and reverse it is not a happy scenario and appears to lock up a little and judder.
I have a Triumph TR4A with a similar box and overdrive set up and this never happens.

Any thoughts on what I might do solve that lot?

Best wishes.

Paul.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Thermostat stuck open
« on: June 04, 2021, 19:05:25 »
So, most of my work on Ae220 has been trouble free but this conundrum needs the expertise of better men.

The thermostat in the pictures is stuck open. Better than stuck closed.

So, I have some questions.

1: How do you get it out of the housing (trying not to damage anything)

2: Can you get replacements?

3: Are there any other alternatives?

Your learned answers very welcome.

Best wishes

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Rev counter conundrum
« on: November 22, 2020, 18:31:03 »
I was wondering why my rev counter out of AE220 was marked with 2 red bands?

There are 2 rev counters in the picture. The one on the left is from a UMB Ace and the right a CL Ace (AE220)

It is a CL engine so 90hp that was fitted with pistons out of a 2 litre by the AC factory in 1973 (Eagled eyed Rod Briggs spotted this and we are replacing the with High Compression pistons).

I was wondering iff anyone can shed any light on the 2 bands? Is it because of down grading the pistons at the factory the rev band changed? I have no clue?

Any thoughts welcome.

Best wishes.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / ACE Clutch Arm - I am on the hunt
« on: November 14, 2020, 08:09:04 »
Would anyone have one of these clutch arms at all?

If you do PLEASE get in touch. Or do you know of another vehicle that uses the same part so I can hunt there too?

It is the arm that takes the plunger of the slave cylinder. (I have had to fabricate the plunger and I have done 2 so if anyone needs one shout. I also have a spare slave cylinder stay rod fabricated.)

Best wishes

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Where do I get these from?
« on: November 08, 2020, 16:49:32 »
Hi.

My ACE has the tubular bumpers. The front one has a few dings in it and I was wondering if there are off the shelf replacements out there?
If so where do I find them?

I am also after a new flat windscreen. Any pointers on that? Do I go to Pilkington?

The rubber cover strip that fits in the lower windscreen to body - where can one get the seal from?

Also looking for an ACE gearstick. What other cars used this stick?

Lastly, how do you find the spares list in the members section? If been looking around and can't locate it:-).

Many thanks in advance for any pointers.

Best wishes.

Paul.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / ACE parts and a question
« on: November 06, 2020, 09:44:45 »
The question is: Should an ACE have an angle drive at the gearbox for a speedo cable?

I took the cable off to find the drive in the cable had sheared. Hence the bouncing speedo.
It looks like it could use an angle drive like the Triumph TRs had to get a straighter cable run at the box?
Are there any thoughts on this? If it does take an angle drive what one does it take?

The parts I need are:

1: A gearstick for the AC ACE. I thought a Healey100 stick was the one but they are very different in several ways.

2: A Terry clip that mounts on the UMB/CL engine block that holds the plastic HT lead tube in position. I need one but I'll take a pair if anyone has any?

Drop me a message if you have any parts.

Many thanks in advance.

Paul (AE220)

A chap called David Stacey has an AC Engine UMB 2033 for sale and other AC 2 litre parts - Window glass, hub caps etc.

He is clearing out a relatives shed/yard.

He also has fond memories of an AC 2 litre, a 4 door that belonged to his father - picture attached. He would be keen to know if it still exists.

If any of this is of any interest or you have any info on the 2 litre PM me and I can forward on David's email details.

Best wishes.

Paul

Engine number UMB 2033 belonged in the 13th, 4 door saloon to be made by AC Cars. The registration year was 1953. The car chassis number was EH2033. The car was painted unusually in the factory in two-tone. The predominant colours were grey exterior with a red interior.

Hi,

Could someone tell me the Lucas Dynamo number/type for a UMB engined ACE? C39? C40?

Also, where is the takeoff for the rev counter cable?

   Many thanks

Hi

Does anyone have a scan of an AC Paint Chip Card Book for the ACE?

I have the list of colours from the Restorers Guide but no visual clues?

   Many thanks in advance.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AC ACE INFO REQUIRED
« on: August 06, 2016, 14:51:48 »

   Hi,

This is my first time on the forum.

I am looking for detailed information on the AC ACE

Specifically, I am trying to acquire a full set of instruments and switches and wondered if anyone our there has them or... can give me the part numbers, make and model?

Is there an owners manual or workshop manual for the ACE. If so, anyone know where I could get one?

I need to get a set of 16 inch 48 spoke wheels? Anyone know where I can buy them?

Finally, is there a resource for modern paint codes for the AC ACE
   colours?

Thanks for any help with my various quests in advance.

   Best wishes.

   Paul.
