Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Re: Aceca vin number? Aceca for sale
« on: January 30, 2020, 17:40:52 »
Hi
I am the owner of AE526 and have been restoring it steadily since acquiring it once it had been recovered with the other two cars. It is registered as such with the DVLA and yes I was puzzled by the loss of its number plate? It is now registered as 948YUS and I hope to have it back road worthy in the near future.

Hi All
I own AE 526 with all correct documentation, full history of all owners including AC build log confirming first owner. Not only is every part marked and stamped 526 but the car also carries the original correctly stamped chassi plate. It is correctly registered with the DVLA and I have had confirmation all is present and correct from the DVLA
The car is on the last stages of a full nut and bolt restoration and hope it will be on the road again soon

I can assure you the car you are looking at is NOT AE526 and you are correct AE 526 is green. It is still right hand drive and safely undergoing restoration in the UK

Great thank you all for the help and advice.  A  photo of the chassis mount/modification would be great if anyone has one.

Hi the car looks great and the colour works so well with the curves on the Aceca. I have just started stripping my project Aceca for a complete restoration so am also interested to know what steering joint rubbers you fitted. I would also find it very useful to see the additional photographs of your build as I am sure I will find it as useful for reference as the bex one on the forum.

AC Weller Engine / Rocker cover breather
« on: June 20, 2013, 10:14:31 »
Thank you for the reply Jonathan received pictures via email also thanks Nik for putting them on the forum.
Based on this I take it that the engines do normally breath a bit via the cam/rocker cover and a modification is good idea to keep engine bays clean and prevent fumes etc.?

Welcome to you both & best of luck with your projects. Do you have a handbook? The Club has copies for sale and once you figure out the Lucas colour coding, following the wiring diagrams is relatively easy...

How do I order a handbook reprint? and who should I contact? I have a "general instructions" and was surprised the switch layout was not detailed.

I also have the same question? I have just purchased a project Aceca and am trying to establish what works or not before restoration starts. I also am interested to know/see what all the dash switches as some dont work or are no longer connected.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AC engine piston rings
« on: August 15, 2016, 21:47:47 »
Just started to rebuild the AC CLB engine in my Aceca and hoping to tap into the knowledge of those who have been there before me. Does anyone know who best to contact or start the search for +10 piston rings for Wellworthy HC pistons and con rod big end shells? Many thanks for any advice to help get this AC engine back to health

AC Weller Engine / Engine block code
« on: April 13, 2016, 18:09:51 »
I have read information about the development of these engines from UMB though CL and CLB until the latest of the engines carrying CLBN. My question is, my Aceca engine also has a "W" suffix and 9/1. My assumption is that the 9/1 relates to the engines compression ratio would this sound correct or plausible? And any ideas what "W" indicates? Many thanks for any information and help

General Forum / West Midlands Section of the late 50's
« on: April 08, 2016, 16:52:45 »
While reading an AC Bulletin of Autumn 1956 it makes reference to the West Midlands Section and a spring meet of Sunday May 6th as well as Lowsonford, September 23rd. It talks about the "usual hard core enthusiasts turned up, Dr Humpreys, Wiggin, Sanders, Ridout and Brookes" at the September meet "the usual Midland contingent of Dr Humphreys, Wiggin, Ridout, Brookes and Moorehouse"

It would seam the Midlands had a strong and thriving group of AC owners turning out regularly to spend a "very pleasant afternoon in Warwikshire" all that said later Bulletins, that I only have a few, make no reference again to this group.

Does anyone know or remember this group and know of any other events they took part in or even have photographs of them in 1956 or later? My particular interest is in "Dr Humphreys - with his newly acquired Aceca"

Many thanks in advance for any information
