Let me check in my box and I'll post what I have.

I happen to know the son of the period Swiss importer, I have actually gathered a lot of original goodies (as you can see he was a fan of merchandising products... and you haven't seen the Cobra roll-up pocket sunglases yet !). Anyone interested in some original AK parts ?

My LHD AKL is also for sale, if you're interested you can contact me by PM

The Swiss Franc was then 4 French Francs, so the car was the the equivalent of 640'000 FF or today EUR 128'000 (1 EUR = 1.25 CHF)

They're crazy. As if there were 45236759236529 ACs around, that they would be involved in accidents everyday due to their front track being too narrow, so that the Swiss Office for Cars would be held for responsible because they'd allowed a handcrafted car that's 2 mm too narrow -
Lucky they haven't seen the spacers otherwise they'd have asked for an Autokraft certificate saying spacers are made by them and allowed on my car.

   Go and figure...

Same story with the tires, they had me change from H to V speed index... but you're allowed a maximum 120 km/h on Swiss roads...
They had me fit an air filter housing because of air aspiration noise (???), change rear reflectors for smaller ones because the larger ones didn't have "E" scripture on them... and a lot of other very intelligent modifications...

No wonder why it took nearly 8 months to get the approval.

Hello Olivier,
I'm a bit late on that one.
My original Autokraft 15' front wheels (AKL car) were also so close to the arms (factory fit) that it was one of the technical control failure point that the Swiss authorities listed for me.
Another point was that they measured/judged my front track to be 2 mm too narrow and I therefore went for precision machined spacers to solve both problems at once.
   Bending the arms sounded scarry...

Thanks, It's such a nightmare to have these cars registered in Switzerland ! I've been through the process since around april so it's a long wait, much money and effort put into it... and now the sunny (warm) days are gone... so I have to enjoy it and freeze at the same time.

9
Just a quick message to tell the car has been accepted by the Swiss and is now fully homologated ! It's been a long, difficult and expensive process but now it's done ! Many thanks to all for your help !

That would be awesome if you could post the numbers (there are 4 cats, 2 each side), I'd be grateful for your help. Alex

Hi Guys, big steps forward... thanks to your help and I'm grateful, really you have to love AC owner's spirit.
Some questions are answered now :
   - "LL" engine code was stamped by the factory after completion of the cars for those which were meant for the German market. Now I'm pretty sure it's also stamped onto my engine, I just have to search for it. If I manage to put hands on my car's production sheet, administrative problem will be solved

   - Now I contacted Cheesman to see if they can provide new original silencers. They sounded like they're not sure if they still have record of the pattern but let's cross fingers they do... If they can, it's another step toward Swiss registration...

   - Received new Avon VR rated tires...

   - Got a certificate from Compomotive so that I can now prove my wheels are correct to my car...

What's remaining to do : manufacture a custom air filter housing, control front and rear track to be sure they match the German TüV data after wheels refurbished, Avon tires on and geometry done.

Dear fellows, one important question, do you know where I can get a factory Specification Sheet for my car ? I think that's the sort of document I'd need to prove my engine is the correct one as engine number, chassis and spec is listed in there ?

13
Dear Dart, thanks for the clue, so there's space for a silencer IN the wheel arch, I'll take the car on a ramp and find out. I'll be able to post some more pictures of the car by the same way

Dear French Frie,
Honestly the Swiss administration is the worst to deal with. I mean it's all about papers, papers, certificate et nonsense stuff regarding cars. For people like me who love driving special things, it's a NIGHTMARE. I bought the brochure, it won't be useful as it has no "value" to the guys here, but it's cool to have it anyway, thanks for the link !

Dear Constant, thanks for your reply.

Paperwise, the Swiss want something "official" looking and specific for the engine. The production sheet would be excellent, now I don't know how to find such a thing. My engine is SF118035 and is the original one to my car (same number on engine and AC manufacturer's plate). Again we had a problem because the German type approval says engine type is "LL" stamped on top of black, and my engine number has no LL nowhere (that I have seen because of the mess of wires around it). It is possible that the LL type would have been stamped by the importer himself ? I had a chat with the former Swiss importer he said engines were stamped "5.0" for swiss market. I don't know. I have to find a way to put my hands on a Ford or AC Autokraft paper with my engine number and its spec on. I still have to investigate.

Regarding the exhaust system, what you say is very interesting because I also have the current setup that you have i.e. 2 cats and 1 silencer each side. I'd be so grateful if you could have a look at your original exhaust line setup so that I could sort that mystery out ! Thanks for your help !
