Just because no-one's replied to this discussion doesn't mean no-one is interested in the trip.

For me, the Chateaux, circuit parking and social side are what makes the ACOC trip special, without them it would be a poorer event.  However, after my experience on the ferry on the 2018 trip means I will never take any car I care about on the ferry again - or even the daily Audi.  My preference has always been for the Eurotunnel and that's what I did the trip before that.  The extra driving down from Calais is no problem and far preferable to having your car squashed in against all the others....

3000ME Forum / Re: Triple Weber 40 DCNF
« on: December 03, 2018, 17:50:31 »
Back in my Scimitar days (mid-1980s!) the triple DCNF setup was mostly thought of as a way to ruin your fuel consumption for little gain.  The DCNFs are a "power" carb unlike the DFAV/DGAS the engines came with, if I remember correctly this means they don't have the part throttle/cruising jets the factory carbs have.

As the DCNFs are 42mm chokes and the standard carbs are either 40mm or 38mm, the air speed through the 6x42 chokes will be a lot lower compared to 2x40/38 chokes, hence Barrie finding they only came on song at high revs.

There's a silver Brooklands Ace in the car park behind him when he's talking that's got a hardtop - did they make many of those?

The leather in the Brooklands Aceca looks the same shade as was used the Lotus Excel "Hethel Celebration" limited editions......

The proportions are different, the sidelight section of the Clubman lights is wider that the Triumph ones so it's unlikely just the lens would fit, think you'd have to change the whole unit.

Yes, it was a Hawk Ace on the stand.  There was a very simple reason it was there - it, along with the Greyhound and 16/80, were the only cars we were offered for the stand.

My and my brother's contact details were in two copies of ACtion and Tony(Ace), Gerry (Greyhound) and Steve (16/80) were the only people who got in touch, many thanks to them for doing so and coming along to support the event.

Tony was very honest and said he was fully prepared to be bumped off if we were offered another genuine AC but it didn't happen.  One chap came on the stand and asked why we had the Hawk and when we explained, he said he had just finished restoring his AC Ace but didn't get in touch as he thought we'd have more than enough offers......

Hi Siegried,

Nice work but it's not a GT40 gearbox, they used an alloy-cased ZF 5DS25 transaxle.

   Cheers,

Well if the archivist doesn't want them, I'd be interested.  How much are you looking for?

Gus, it might be worth your while getting in touch with Alan Lubinsky regarding using the logo on your watches, he gave us the OK to use the logo on the stand materials for the 3000ME stand at the NEC CLassic Car Show last November.

Shep, the 3000ME website IS a forum, not just an info site, and predates this forum.  Most of the active ME owners I know post on there but only a few of them post on this forum as well, so Terry's advice is valid, you will get a quicker response and possibly in more depth.

These wheels are originally from ME 184 and the owner is intending to bid on them unless anyone else desperately wants them - have a look on the ME forum.

Without taking a wheel off and just by holding a rule on the centre cap, it looks like 5 x 110mm.  The standard wheels are 7" x 14" by 0.31" out.  The suspension and hubs of the ME are bespoke for the car.

One of the MEs has alloys that are said to be from a Volvo, so that might be a starting point.
