I had the same problem when trying to increase the insured value of my MK IV. I sent several auction sales results and reported private sale results to my insurance company, American Collectors, and asked for an agreed value of $90K.  They refused to increase the value to that amount and agreed "as a courtesy" to increase the value to $75K. The premium did not increase significantly when the value was changed from $60K to $75K.

I have the same headrest fixtures on my car, AK1103, and like those on Hobo's car, they are painted black over the original tan. Like Hobo, I do not have any headrests. I recall that someone told me long ago that the headrests for our cars were from a Honda, but when I look on the internet at contemporary photos (1985) of various Honda models, nothing seems to match. Does anyone know what car the headrests are from?  Thanks, John.

I have been told to park my MK IV with the kit cars at British Car Day at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. I opened the bonnet and showed the admissions people the VIN tag. I was then permitted to park with the British cars. My friend with a MK IV was recently made to park by himself at another all British event while a COX continuation car from the early 1990's was touted as an "original" cobra and parked with another 1960's cobra. I don't feel so bad because there were only 400 or so of our MK IVs made and many people have never seen one. What really irks me though is when people think my Morgan is a kit car!

I thought that Mr.Legate was in possession of the factory build records? Also, much information is available from the SAAC publications of 1997 and 2009 (I think), including owners, original color, original engine size, options.

I had a similar problem and corrected it by replacing the voltage stabilizer. The gauge needs a relatively constant voltage to function properly and when the stabilizer goes bad, the voltage fluctuates too much and causes erratic readings. This drove me crazy as I thought the car was always overheating. I replaced the stabilizer with a solid state unit and the problem was resolved.

I will check in my SAAC book and see if it is listed with any particularity. I recall that the book will say "red" but might not say which red.

I remember looking at this car in 1985 when it was on the showroom floor at Woltz & Wind Ford in Heidelberg, PA. I was still in school at the time and had neither a pot to p*** in nor a window to throw it out of. The car still looks good. John
