I am trying to identify and source the small cylindrical part that slips into the tachometer & speedometer drives to engage the related dashboard gauge cables.  I have not been able to find any reference to the necessary part in any of my maintenance/parts references.  The attached photo shows a part I found in a pile of nuts and bolts that seems to do the job.  Is it the part I need?  What is the correct part name and where can I buy new ones?

Thanks Keith and Jam2!  I have sent an email to Brian.  I have also finally found a motorcycle shop that says they can replace the cables.  However, saying and doing are not always the same.  Aloha   Terry

Can anyone help with wiring and switching for fog lights? I received BEX1002 with fog lights but no wiring and no obvious dashboard switching.  My wiring diagram doesn't show anything for the lights.  Were the lights and wiring an after market add-on?  I'm ordering a new wiring harness and need some help before I submit the order.  Should I even think about reinstalling them?  Any ideas would be welcomed.

BEX1002 is using the standard AC clutch assembly.  It is a ten spline clutch which I think was also used in the MGA.  The current  release bearing is Borg Beck.  I don't know if that bearing was/is used on the MG or not.  I also don't know if the bearing #46892, if used on an Ace, was used on the AC engine instead of the Bristol.

Can anyone help me clarify the correct Borg and Beck clutch release bearing number?  A manual I have indicates the bearing number is 46892.  The bearing I removed from BEX1002 has a different number, 0216-ENG-40031.   I can't find ANY reference number for the 0216 unit.  46892 seems to have been used by several different manufacturers including MG in the MGA.  Is either of the numbers correct? If the correct release bearing is the 0216 unit, is there a source for a replacement bearing?

I am thinking about replacing my 4"x16" wire wheels with 15" wheels.  MWS has 5.5x15 wires that are supposed to be for AC Ace, but I thought AC only offered 4x16 and 5x15 wheels.  I'm concerned that 5.5" rims might look/be too wide and make the tires project beyond the body line.  Anyone had any experience with the 5.5" rims?  Has anyone used the 5x15 wheels from Dayton?  Any reaction to Dayton wheels?  Both MWS and Dayton can supply wheels with the correct offset.

I know the Ace is supposed to have a fixed differential, but my BEX1002 had the original differential removed and a rubber mounted Aceca diff installed when I bought it as a basket case in a bankruptcy sale.  I think the previous owner was trying to convert it to a Cobra before financial disaster struck.  So I'm now proceeding with checking the Aceca differential and finalizing the rear suspension rebuild.  Since I'm in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, can you help  me with contact information for Brian?

Can anyone suggest a source for new metalastic bushings for a removal differential housing?  The bushings in the housing I have are very old and the rubber is very hard.  I would like to replace them before I re-install the housing.

   Thanks for the lead to Gerry. My differential is not welded to the chassis.  The entire unit, including the case, is bolted into the chassis as a complete unit.  Is this an unusual assembly? I emailed Gerry and included photos.  He wrote back that the bearing blocks need to be custom made for my unit. I assume Luke's comments are also for the welded housing but I'll see what INRacing's units are like.  Otherwise, I'll just have to find a qualified machinist.  Again, thanks for leading me to Gerry.

   I am restoring BEX1002.  I have lots of pictures of the inner panels and the rubber skirts that came with the car as well as the repaired/resurrected assembly.  My skirts were not riveted to the inner panel, but were, and now are, attached with screws. Thanks everyone!  I appreciate all the help.  Apparently I do still have some of the original equipment under the dash. The lights under my dash have some screw bases and some twist type.  Fortunately the tach and speedo are still screw type. I am considering some sort of reflector shield over the gauges to concentrate the light around the gauge rather than illuminating the entire underdash. I like the idea of using LED bulbs.  I'll look for warmer colored bulbs rather than the standard sunlight white color.  I still have the very elegant light original mounting brackets shown in the photo from nikbj68. It is VERY helpful. I noticed that the glove box appears to be leather rather than carpet as in my car.  Was there an original standard?   I appreciate the offer to look at Norman's installation, however my commute from Hawai'i makes it difficult. Again, thank you for all the input!

Thanks for the replies.  I am actually working on an early car (bex1002).  It does have the 11/16" king pin and bronze bushings.  It is because I was chasing lubrication channels to the loaded thrust washer that I noticed there was no channel to get grease from the bottom grease fitting through the bushing to the thrust washer.  That is what surprised me.  I thought there must be a problem with my new bronze bushings. But then I noticed that the old bushings have a similar channel configuration with no apparent channel up to the thrust washer.  The top grease fitting only supplies grease to the upper bushing and there is no channel through the king pin for grease to flow down to the thrust washer.  So I'm still confused.  How is the thrust washer lubricated?
