I have quite a few useful and rare bits to dispose of. Rather than try and list them in detail here I will just say what and leave people to contact me by PM (or use Ace registrar contact details in Action) if interested, and I will send full details and photos:

L/H door (Ace), 5 x 56 spoke 16" wires, ENV 14/51 diff, Exh manifolds, AC head + rockers,/valves/springs, Distributor, Liner and other gaskets, Front and rear bumper tubes, Flywheel, door 'locks'/strikers

A slightly belated reply to both posts.....

Firstly re the price and auction, as stated it includes the buyers premium, ie about £45k, and thats before vat is added to that, so the buyer pays another £9k on top. Sellers, at lower levels, typically pay up to 10% + vat, or 12%. You can roughly halve that at higher levels, and this of course has  to be deducted from the hammer price, ie what the seller receives. So not bad for the auction house eh, with 17-20+ % overall.

AE01 is a special car, and was always going to be about double the value of a standard car, so its not indicative of the market generally. Having said that Aces and Cobras are premium cars and have been ever since I can remember. I couldn't possibly afford to go and buy one now, but £500 in 1969 was about right when a typical MG, TR or whatever was £300 - see, the premium was there even then!

Club and membership wise I can only agree re the future - I've been a member, apart from 2-3 years way back, for 49 years. Interestingly I sent some thoughts to Terry Webb about this, and copied a link to an article about what some other clubs are doing to prop up membership.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AE 01 to auction
« on: April 23, 2018, 20:12:24 »
I have decided its time for a change having owned UPJ 75 for a mere 49 years, so it should appear from tomorrow on the Bonhams website for the FoS auction on July 13th, yes its a Friday! No doubt there will be feeds out to other websites.
That auction already has a  number of high profile cars like the Aston Zagato 2 VEV, another long term ownership car. Hopefully UPJ won't be lost amongst them all.
Apart from the first Ace built the car, as many will know, has a huge competition, road test etc history, so the auction route, although very public, was felt to be the only practical one for a car like this.
Firstly, of course, there's no done deal with an auction, but if things go to plan I would definitely buy another car, could it be an AC? Maybe, and I must admit I've always had a soft spot for a 2.6, although an early Cobra would be lovely!
It's going to be an interesting few weeks....

Thats what it looks like! But its interesting that the article specifically refers to an Ace, not just an AC. Think its time to check that out.....

Thanks. Steve Gray has been in touch and might be able to help so he is in contact with SA!

The car appeared as part of the Simeone display and we managed to get some current photos.

It has been bought from Daniel Rapley by JD Classics and will presumably be shortly on its way back to UK and, no doubt appear on their website for sale.

So a famous car in the Ace history returns, although it could well end up somewhere else of course!

It still has the Ford 2.6 engine that dates back to the 1970's. Interestingly the chassis no in the old UK log book is Ace 501. I have no idea where that came from

ACOC News and Events / Wilton Classic 3-4th June 2017
« on: March 01, 2017, 17:33:57 »
Not sure if it has filtered to anyone at the club yet, but Wilton has been cancelled, which is a great shame. I heard because I had an entry direct with them in their Concours D'histoire.

This was the message from the event Director:

It is with great regret and sadness that I write to inform you that the decision has been made not to hold Wilton Classic and Supercar in 2017. After 18 months’ work and a very big investment this has come as a shock to us all, especially in the midst of so much support and work done, but circumstances beyond our control have forced the decision.

Wilton is a great event. I have taken the Ace a few times, and other cars. It started out as a Supercar day some years ago, his (young) lordship being a real petrolhead and Veyron owner, amongst other cars like a 300SL, 288GTO etc
They introduced a quality Classic section maybe 4 years ago, and had a sabbatical last year with the aim of making it a bigger and better 2 day event in 2017.
Its a lovely location, and very accessible from pretty much anywhere in the South, so I would highly recommend it. Sort of goodwood without the crowds...
