Hi Dave, would you believe it is still not on the road, it is 80% done but now they are working on Jeffrey's car which is completely apart. They are finishing the wiring and have to reinstall the interior and trim pieces. So I am hoping next spring. I have been busy at work and also restoring vintage motorbikes as well as doing track days with my Porsche. so my interest has been elsewhere. Regarding the ignition, the car is 12volts so the ignition should be as well. I would install an electronic ignition and forget points and ballast. There are several British systems which work quite well. The problem is when the module fails you are stuck, with points and a few simple tools, you can almost always get home. All the best.

A modern sports car with AC heritage, An almost identical Chassis. 4" inch tubes, identical suspension towers for all 4 corners, very similar cast alloy suspension triangles " a la Kirkham" Etc.
Classicus, here is your modern rendition of the 428. Immortal design!
Actually even better, The dealer is Santa Monica is a friend of mine whom I have not seen in several years, he is the Morgan dealer here in LA. I will give him a buzz tomorrow.

I saw a South African sports car about a year ago, forgot the name it was very modern and exotic with a modern Corvette engine and when we opened the hood, I saw the motor far back in the chassis and upon closer inspection it looked very much like a Cobra Chassis. So I couldn't resist, looked underneath and here it was, A Cobra 427/AC428 chassis in a modern exotic car. I can't remember the name of the the car.

Actually I don't think so because when we stripped the paint, I don't remember any black among the various layers of paint. Also the beige leather interior is factory original! It does have a leather steering wheel like the photo. I will ask the restorer.
Here it is: "Yes! A verrrry isolated area on the top of the drivers fender, with several old repairs , which have been sprayed directly to the metal.
No black anywhere else, in any crevices.
Very suspect of some random black primer laying around at an old repair shop.
So no black it seems!
Original color was a Light green metallic.

You can use a Ford mustang Coil of the era, it will work fine. I have seen cars with those as well as Lucas. Ford coil is probably a safer bet (Do not get a painted one which is cheap and made in Asia, get a plated one still made in the US) Why 6 volts when the system is 12v, thats not correct (I suspect it will run since a ballast resistor is a resistance and is not voltage dependent). The ballast resistor is used to lower the voltage to the coil by about 2 volts, so it runs cooler (Maximum old coil temp is about 165 degrees fahrenheit). When the starter is energized, The car won't start if there is no jumper to bypass it. If an electronic trigger is used in the distributor instead of points, you can't use a ballast resistor in most cases. A Modern MSD coil will do the trick and send much more energy to the plugs improving performance and fuel economy. I myself use a modified Ford distributor with an MSD trigger inside and an MSD ignition box installed under the dash. Look completely stock on the outside.

Still not fired up but a few nice photos of Jeffrey's car and mine next to each other!
Jeffrey's car original colour:
Quite nice actually! Jeffrey's car is very nice with almost no corrosion! It will be repainted in its original green metallic colour.
As far as mine, We are doing the wiring, it has all been unwrapped and cleaned and we are incorporating the wiring for the MSD system and the electric fan into the loom and it will be wrapped in the correct Lucas tape!
Still waiting for the headers!

I am glad to hear. Manifolds are almost done, will post a photo when the are ready. Jeffrey is getting a pair ready as well. Actually, we are doing the complete line all the way to the rear of the car with mufflers and resonators to mute the hot rod sound. The artist doing them here locally does exhausts for Cobra restorations. Both rear and side exhausts. Original pickup truck manifolds probably rob the car of 60 to 80 HP specially with those nice alloy heads. Even my shorty headers were chocking the car quite a bit.
