This car is a COB car so would that make a difference? It depends if the demisters were fixed before or after painting the body shell?

Can anyone tell me if the windscreen demister shields should be painted body colour or left in aluminium? I have seen both. It would depend on if the
factory fitted them before painting the body or not?

Hi Jeff

I have a weber manifold which I bought in about 1983. Intended to fit webers but never did.
If you send an email I will send picture!

My Invalid car document is stamped AC (electric), taxation class Historic Vehicle, body type Invalid Vehicle and 1500cc!! But I must say I've not bothered to correct the mistakes.

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / Alternator
« on: January 10, 2017, 16:31:23 »
As I said my Cobra was fitted with an alternator when I purchased the car.
That was some 43 years ago and as its not given me any problems I will stick with this non original item. The only reason for changing is that the alternator bracket is abit of a lashup so I thought thought the CSX bracket would clean things up. I have a Bosch alternator, but it does line up with the crankshaft pulley.
I know the bracket will fit the block the only problem being if the Bosch alternator does not fit the CSX bracket? But I suppose it's all checkable!

Hi Trevor

Thank you for your reply. 6030 is very well and much enjoyed. I've owned her now for 41 years. I did buy the car restored, minus a few missing parts but generally the car has held up well still the same paint/interior/chrome/engine still good etc. Have all your books on AC's in fact I have all the books relating to Cobra's!

   Kind regards

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / Alternator
« on: January 03, 2017, 11:35:40 »
Can anyone tell me the correct alternator for a 1964 289? I assume mine would have been fitted with a Lucas generator as COB 6029 is, mine is not the original engine and was fitted with an alternator when I bought the car.

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / History of COB6030

I am trying to trace the racing history of COB6030. It was raced by Chris Shipton in the 1971 STP Mod-sports Championship. He gained a 2nd in class at Silverstone that year, he also raced at Llandow. I have tried Autosport/Motorsport/BDRC etc. but no luck. Perhaps someone in the Club wouls know something even after all these years? Anything would be appreciated.
