Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Brooklands Ace for sale
« on: March 31, 2014, 23:30:11 »
I have owned a few Ace Brooklands, they are great cars. Very rarely come to market, but the price seems high. Lets see, will it be like the Frua (one minute £35K and next £100K) if you think only 60 cars produced it should be higher. The car with roof down is very nice looking, just wish more was invested.

Keith,

Everyone I spoke to enjoyed the event, I may need to go next year! Just trying to fit into the kids schedule (never thought four girls could be hard work). I'm so pleased for Andy. He is so quick around Goodwood, to win in his new Ace is just even more special. If you missed the race watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaWH8sUiaaw

Andy did great passing to win the race.

Seems like a dealer who does not know the market, but saying that the car is worth it. They come to market so rarely, I keep track and we have 3-4 max per year. I'm still getting to get the registrar updated. Trying to complete as we speak.

OK, so who wins will need to invest over £90K which means you are looking at around £103K so far if you want right in my view. Very Interesting, but if someone wants to spend £10K a year over 10 years could be a great way to get into a great car. Once you own no need to rush, lets see.

Not the best I have seen, not the worst. Just will need a lot of cash, I have restored two Aceca's and you would not believe the cost. Makes restoring an Ace simple. But would be nice to see on the road!

Interesting question, I can only talk about Aceca's. I believe original is always the best value, even mod's are now starting to put people off. I recently asked a press guy about modification. His view the best cars are not modified, why basically original specification, is what people want. I know Aceca's go for a lot less than original (matching numbers).

Interesting market at the moment, I've been tracking cars and some (few) are getting OK prices, but most are down in price. Seeing MK IV's going under £60K is great for buyer, but not for seller. Interesting, also I see aceca's are starting to stall. I wonder what is going on in the market? Any views?

Wow, £58K for an Aceca, even if not original looked quite nice. I wonder if the Market is going a little soft? Seeing a MkIV Cobra at £55K and this shows something. I believe a top end concurs will always get a top $ but anything else, will be down to original / history of the car. I see many cars now on the Market for months and months not moving, a couple have been for sale over 18 months.

What people need to remember is I have restored 3 Aceca's and they cost a fortune to restore. If I bought again, would get a top of the line needing no work. If body off, etc. then you can now say over £80K is required.

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Weight
« on: January 12, 2014, 00:04:23 »
The problem with any low production car, the engine, gearbox have a big difference in weight. If you have a aluminum head, etc. a lot of weight can be lost. I will be doing corner weights on my Aceca Brooklands which should be interesting. I have a lot of articles which shows a lot of variants in weight.

Also forgot the South African variant was about 1510kg. So assume yours was an early variant.

Hi,

Kerb Weight was 1513kg, now being a small production car and changes occurred I can see some differences, but not by this amount. Did it have a hardtop?

   Thanks

Thanks Keith, yep the wheels got changed from standard 18" wheels to this not so nice set, also the suspension was raised like a tractor. All will be changed back, I have cleared all the interior out of the car, I can see my decision to rebuild is now the only decision. So much hidden jobs to complete, I did like the use of B&Q pipe for the heater system. Will change, my job list is getting bigger. Thanks for all the pictures!
