Title: Brooklands Road Test Portfolios
Post by: Edward_C on February 16, 2015, 22:15:36
Can anyone tell me whether there are any Brooklands Ace articles in either of the Brooklands road test reprint series?

There seem to be two books which cover the right years but I don't want to purchase a copy of either and be left disappointed...

When I get home from South Africa I will reference here the various dates, articles for people. We have had many over the years, so should help.

   Performance Car      March 1994
   World Sports Cars   June/July 1994
   Carweek         26th October 1994
   Performance Car      February 1996

   and for the MKIII Ace;

   Autocar         31st December 1997
   Car         February 1998
   Topgear         February 1998
   Autocar         24th February 1999

Hi Edward,

Have you found a suitable car yet?

I think we need to be a bit careful introducing Mk1, Mk11 & Mk111 nomenclature as the factory didn't ever do this.
I believe it's something John has done to help identify production phases but all Ace's left the factory as AC Ace as far as I'm aware.

From the Brooklands road test reprint series, I bought the AC & Cobra 1920-2011 (it has a dark blue cover) and this one does cover the Brooklands Ace. At the bottom of the cover it gives some detail of the cars covered and states at the end "and the new Ace".

David,

You are correct, I did this to help me. Ac Actually had two versions the last one which Ac called "new shape". In the update I'm submitting to Action will explain all. So Technically correct we have a Ac Ace Brooklands and Ac Ace Brooklands New Shape (some people refer as the South African Cars, which is also misleading) I'm clearing this up based on Factory Ledge.
