OK, let me try again... Having checked the registry first before posting, there doesn't seem to be any skeletons in the closet for this car (unlike the Billy Joel MkIV and CSX3016 that I posted yesterday).
CSX2017, an original 260 competition Cobra roadster, is currently for sale through The Stable Ltd. in Gladstone NJ at a cool $1.9 million USD asking price.

When Carroll Shelby decided to turn the AC “Ace” roadster, already a very highly regarded sports and racing car, into a world class race car, the Cobra was born. At 2000 pounds and powered by a high-performance 4.3 litre Ford V-8 engine, this car was a contender and customers loved the its behavior on the street. But Shelby went further and built factory competition cars with many mechanical and physical modifications including the single 4-barrell carburetor being replaced by four twin Webers. CSX-2017 was one of the purpose-built factory competition cars and was purchased and driven by Robert E. Hayes, a successful Oklahoma businessman, sports car racer and World War II Navy anti-aircraft gunner in the Pacific theatre. Hayes and his comp. Cobra had a successful racing history competing under the Shelby American banner in races including the “USRRC /Continental Divide” and “USRRC—GT Pensacola” with wins at the “Badger 200,” “Greenwood Roadway ” and others. The car is well documented in the “Cobra Registry” and is accompanied by details of its successful race history. Owned by a Pennsylvania collector for the past 30+ years, is in excellent condition throughout and has been driven just 21,934 miles since new.
