Title: A new member from Nigeria????
Post by: REV on November 17, 2010, 10:25:52
I've been approached by a member with a once in a lifetime opportunity, and fear that others may well have been approached as well.

This is the email I recieved this morning.

   Hello REV

You received the following message from: geo123 (george_manda01@yahoo.fr)

   At: http://www.acownersclub.co.uk/forum/

   Hello

My name is Mr.George Manda. Please kindly allow me to inform you about this
deal which I have been wrapping up for years now, and which I will love
to do with you as it is the reason why I have contacted you. Although
this proposal may come to you as a suprise, but I would want you to
understand that this deal is 100% legal and risk free, though it
requires confidentiality. What I need from you is trust and your honest
coperation for us to execute this project for our benefit only.If you
really believe in deal, get back to me or give me a call on my private
telephone number for details. I await your urgent response.

   Have my best regards.
   Mr.George Mand
   +22545903362

Strangely George can't spell his own surname at the bottom of the letter.

I have never been one to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I would suggest that George's letter is ignored if you have also been a lucky recipient!

ODD.

Unless the moderators have been extremely quick deleting his profile, geo123 doesn`t appear in the MEMBERS LIST (http://"http://www.acownersclub.co.uk/forum/members.asp?mode=search&M_NAME=G&initial=1&method=datedesc"), but was able to email you via the forum?
Can`t believe this old '419' scam (http://"www.419eater.com/") is still going on...

I Received the same email. Not the first of its type through this forum either!

You have to be logged in to access the 'email user' or members list details...each member is 'approved', by mods, and I don`t recall seeing geo123 appear in the 'our newest member' on the index page. Odd.

I've just had a mail from Bryan, and he's used his delete button to precise effect already this morning!

I can't believe it works either, but would hate to think someone lost their hard earned because I did nothing.

Hopefully alls well that ends well!

Fantastic work, Bryanator!
So at least the security features are secure, and someone had to work hard to gain access. Probably the real George Mand(a) doesn`t know his ID has been borrowed for scamming...
   Blighters....the lot of `em!

What are you saying?  Do you mean I'm NOT gonna get rich quick from dealing with George on this?

I got the same email, and hate to tell you guys: but I got extremely rich, quick, with this secret deal! I split the funds with Bryan, as he was so kind to take it off the web and leave all the spoils to just him and I....

Does that tick all the boxes?????

You could maybe make an offer....

I got one too this morning.
Either most of the recipients are just ignoring it or those posting here are somehow special.
Groucho Marx had something to say about that.

I'm too young for that.

Is that what Groucho said? Not one of his better lines!
I too received this once-in-a-lifetime offer this morning...
And yes I are special, we tell myself that daily.

I along with a few others also received this email,  Can you please bring up the subject of security of Club members data at this months Committee meeting.  None of us need this sort of intrusion.

   Thanking you in anticipation.

I know.  But then I brought it up, didn't I?

All things in perspective. Its never been a major issue (and still isn't really). All that's happened is that his email has been recieved. He won't have anyones actual email address. No real harm done and it livened up a dull day.

I would think that not allowing newly joined members access to the Members area for a 30 day period would be all that is needed. When these people can't contact anyone immediately they will quickly move on and forget about it. But if a new member wished to post they could.

Nothing will ever be completely secure. I believe that hundreds of hackers attack the Pentagons computer each and every day, and some actually get so far in! Now thats scarey!!!

Generous George has obviously taken on board, but not fully grasped another of Groucho Marx's quotes:

The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.. if you can fake that, you've got it made.

I think he'll need a lot more practice before he becomes much of a threat!

   :)

I meant to add that I've obtained $3.000,000  Madoff bucks in the form of non-bearer bondage...are you telling me that the $500,000 I paid is lost?
Title: A new member from Nigeria????

Are Madoff Bucks like Disney dollars... except worth less?

Having just said in the PHISHING (http://"http://www.acownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1728") thread that I`d only ever received one such message, I also recieved this one. However, I still stand by my statement:

The last 2 have registered with @yahoo.fr email addresses, so I don`t think IP tracing would help much...[:(]

Perhaps I'm wrong but I've always thought you could get any individual IP number banned, not traced, if you notified the provider (Yahoo) directly ? Might be worth a try just in case ?

I know (not personally of course)of several hundred "trustees", all in US Federal prisons...I'm sure they would help this young man out.
