Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aceca Bristol BE571 up for auction
« on: August 30, 2009, 04:55:34 »
RM has Aceca Bristol BE571 coming up for auction in London on 28 October, it will be interesting to see what the car will bring as a follow up to the wrecked AEX571 from eBay. There is no description or estimate listed yet , you can click the link below to see some pictures at the RM site:

The Register lists it as the first Bristol-engined Aceca. Anyone know anything about the car?

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aceca AEX567 on eBay
« on: August 23, 2009, 03:57:21 »
If there are any brave souls out there with bottomless pockets, wrecked Aceca AEX567 is on eBay right now, item #250486640140. What a shame to see it in its current state, but it looks like financial suicide to try and restore. Hope someone does it, though!

The register shows 567 as Oxford Blue/White, based on the register I bet this is really AEX561, listed as Green/Beige, which this car obviously is. Both were shipped to Detroit. Of course, Company records could have been mixed up too, we've all seen that before.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Ace/Aceca bumper end caps
« on: August 16, 2009, 23:56:27 »
Does anyone have one or more of the end caps as used on the tubular bumpers on Aces and Acecas for sale, or know of a source? If I can buy at least one, I could get copies made.

   Thanks for any leads.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Shipping recommendation?
« on: July 29, 2009, 13:52:04 »
Maybe our UK-based members can help on this. I'm getting a set of tube bumpers for my Aceca, and am looking for the cheapest way/carrier to get them sent to me here in the US. I'm not in a rush to receive them. UPS/DHL seem to run about the same (about  £135.00), does anyone have another option, or is this just what the market will bear right now?

   Thanks for any leads.

BTW, anyone going to be in Monterey in August?

Does anyone know the tube dimensions and lengths of the bumpers that were optionally fitted to Aces and Acecas? Does anyone reproduce these?

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aceca Window Felt
« on: July 11, 2009, 21:47:12 »
Has anyone replaced the window felt that goes in the channels of the roll-up windows on an Aceca? I just had the window frames rechromed, and bought some replacement channel felt from Ron Leonard. However, the stuff he supplies is rubber covered with a thin felt, and it's basically too large to push into the channeles once the frame is installed. And I have to install the frames first, since there are screws that hold the frame in place, and to the quarter window frames, that must be installed from inside the channels. So I need some advice/source for a diffeent channel felt to complete the windows.

   Any ideas out there?

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aceca Door Pockets
« on: May 06, 2009, 02:11:13 »
Can anyone supply me with the proper dimensions, or a pattern, for the small door pockets in an Aceca? What is the 'box' actually made from, flocked cardboard, some other material?

   Any info appreciated.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AC Engine acorn nuts for valve cover
« on: January 31, 2009, 20:18:05 »
Does anyone know a source for the chrome acorn (Dome) nuts that are used to hold the AC engine valve cover in place, or what other cars of the era these may have been used on (MGs/Triumph/Jags, etc) for some purpose? Ron Leonard does not have any, and not sure where to look next? Any ideas appreciated.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / AC Carburetor question
« on: January 31, 2009, 18:10:15 »
Can someone tell me why the H2 carbs used on The Ace/Aceca did NOT have the dashpot dampers as were commonly used on other varieties of th H2/H2S carbs? I'm sure there's a good reason, just evades me. even the SUs on the 1147cc Spitfire engines used the dampers, so it's not realetd to carb size or model.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aceca Tools
« on: January 18, 2009, 22:51:27 »
Does anyone happen to have a picture of an original, correct Aceca (AC-Engined) tool board with the correct tools? I can't figure out what two of the slots are supposed to hold, and the factory parts list doesn't clue me in either.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / SU Carb Question H2 vs HS2
« on: December 28, 2008, 03:15:26 »
Can anyone tell me for certain one way or the other if the SU H2 carbs used on AC engined Aces and Acecas is the same model I see sometimes referenced as 'HS2'? Or are these actually different models? Are parts interchangeable?

   Thanks for any insights.

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Very rough Aceca project for sale
« on: November 21, 2008, 00:20:23 »
I know of a very rough Aceca project car for sale, if anyone is interested. The car literally needs everything done to it, but does appear to be mostly complete and unmodified.I have not seen the car in person, only pictures. I also understand there is rot in at least one of the main chassis rails, so will require sleeving and welding. If anyone is interested, I have a few pictures that were sent to me. Contact me at peter@classic-motors-online.com and I can pass along the sellers info. I have no stake in the car, would like to see it go to a good club members home. It's beyond my pain threshold.

And brace yourself, asking price is $35K US, but I know the owner is open to offers. I couldn't even guess what the car is worth in its current state.

Any brave souls out there? Jay, seems right up your alley...

Ace, Aceca & Greyhound Forum / Aceca Windshield
« on: November 17, 2008, 02:54:10 »
Does anyone know of a supplier in the US that could reproduce a front windshield for an Aceca? I don't believe they are available through the club or anywhere else at this time.

   Any leads appreciated.
