Mk IV, Superblower, CRS and other Continuation Cars Forum / U joints
« on: January 04, 2013, 10:02:14 »
dear all,

I found there's some play in my steering  system, despite the 13K only mileage ...

I think about changing the U joints (and maybe the intermediary shafts), replacing them by high quality ones (from Flaming river for example).

   two questions :
   - does anybody has already done that ?
   - the upper U-joint is welded to the middle shaft... is it normal ?

Two 289 cobras are featured in Retroviseur, this month...  One is a street Cobra (CSX 2424), and the other is said to be a street version converted to FIA specs (COX6013). They're both shooted at the Ecurie Europe (Yvan Mahé) facilities...

Mk IV, Superblower, CRS and other Continuation Cars Forum / 15" wheels
« on: September 06, 2012, 09:24:35 »
a friend of mine has just imported a MKIV (topic to come, and it has 15"  wheels ... I love it [:D]! I know the subject has been beaten to death, but a discussion   with an ACOC member (sorry, I can't remember his name) has confused me [:o)] !

he said that trigo wheels don't have the correct offset (ET) and, if I remember clearly, that implies that front wheels foul with calipers...
those sold by Gerry Hawkridge seem to have the correct ET, but they're not in the same budget range [:(] !

he also said that US seller (Vintage wheels or somethin' like that [;)] !) may provide hallibrand-like wheels, with the correct ET...

what is  your experience with that ?

   thanks !

   Olivier
