« on: November 21, 2013, 10:58:55 »
A french car, from a french ACOC member (see pics), based on a Frua coupe (CF052) butchered to make a rather lovely Cobra :

Red Hair (AK1113) passed the french MOT this morning, without any fault and 0.01% of Co gaz emission... Not that bad for a 27 year old lady !
But I noticed that the bolts that maintain propreller shaft and diff together are loose, causing harsh behaviour in transmission... Fortunately, as they are nylstop nuts, they didn't go away ! But I prefer to replace the bolts & nuts rather than just tight them...

Could someone tell what size are they, what tensile should they be, and what is the torque to be applied to them ?

   Thanks !

Hi all,

LMC 2014 is coming (4,5,6th of July), and booking is now available ! I wonder if there will be an ACOC place, like 2 years ago, and if the tickets can be ordered through the club ?

here's the entry form for Clubs : http://www.lemansclassic.com/userfiles/pdfs/2014/inscriptions/2014LMC-BulletindinscriptionCLUBS_inscriptible.pdf

hello,

A friend of mine, who worked in London in 1990-1991, told me that there was a show room exposing MKIVs, at the intersection of Piccadilly street and Berkeley St... it is now an Audi show-room, right ?

By any chance, does someone have some period pictures of this show-room ?

   many thanks !

Back from the "Cobra Days"!  More than 1.000 miles, where AK1113 didn't miss a beat, on twisted roads in the center of France... Unfortunately, we had a lot of rain, but Avons are imperial on wet roads !

I only had one issue : on the very first day, on highway, I suddenly felt a lot of vertical play in the steering wheel ! It appeared that half of the firewall bushing was missing so the upper column part was only hold by the upper adjustable bolt!

I wanted to know it this bushing is originally in two parts or if it was a one-piece item, that was broken on mine ? What is the part number of it, and can it be replaced by another upgraded rose joint ?

   Thanks !

A classic event will be organized  next week-end on the Montlhery track (a kind of french Brooklands , but still fully useable), and a MkIV is on the poster :

   It reminds me a car ... Mine [:o)] !

   The full picture :

It was sunny... But it was last year, as the spring is more rainy than ever here !

here: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/ac/cobra-continuation/ac-cobra-crs-2001/1271453

sensibly priced...not sure about the "lighter and stiffer chassis" than the MKIV [}:)] ! BTW, it is mentioned 1350 kgs on the plate, whereas my MKIV was weighted 1190kg with half fuel tank ?

Just a quick message to highlight this auction on the 16 pages brochure for the MKIV , which on sale on ebay :

I changed the oil from the engine and from the differential as well ... Not a big deal, especially as I use Motul 75w90 300LS, in a small tank with a very flexible neck (I added a 1meter hose to this neck):

But the space between the boot and the filling hole is tight and you have to smash the tank to make the oil going up to the hole ! Was struggling with that... Until I realised there was a hole in the boot with a grommet , just level to the hole [:o)] ! What a moron ...

   It may help [:)] ...

Hello,

It may sounds as a crime, but I think about making some "powered by Ford" badges, that can replace the orange side marks...

as the dimensions are different from the original part (side marks are 8.8x3.6cms), it as to be custom made, stretching a bit the original logo, but I 've got someone that can do that ... but he needs to do a batch, around 50 items, to make it economically possible.they would be exactly as these emblems, apart the dimensions...

so, apart from the crime (but it could be totally retrofitted, would it be of interest for few members ?

   thanks for your answers !
