Pre-purchase inspection for 289 Cobra
« on: October 28, 2012, 23:55:23 »
Any links to someone particularly adept at evaluation of 289 Cobras to do an inspection.  I am more aquainted with AC Ace Bristol and not the exported US versions.  Like to know what I am possibly getting myself into.
   Thanks

Depending on the car’s location, I would recommend Alan Smith of Thunder Road and Speed Shop. They are based near Woking, Surrey (England) and there aren’t many European based Thames Ditton Cobras that “”big Al” hasn’t worked on, or re-built. FYI - All the Cobras passing through Rod Leach’s Nostalgia are checked and “spannered” by Thunder Road.

According to Joel`s profile website link, it looks like he`s based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, but whether that`s where the car is, he`d have to say.

I have referred Joel to the Cobra Registrar, Ned Scudder, to research the history of the car.

Likewise - but strangely the car has virtually no history!
