Thankyou Robin.
Thats more like it.Any idea what brought the change? ie pressure from Shelby or Turner, who had the other cars to compare to, or just the parts bin just drying out?

I was browsing Rinseys `AC in detail` and saw on page 232 his mention about A86 ,altho` not a leaf sprung ,it  got me thinking. what took so long to convert the cobras and did AC test it first on other leaf spring cars? Not sure what the last 2.6`s had

Banter aside, what I really was trying to determine is,1. Was the  mod made on the cobras first.  ie a possible Rem requested mod or were the Aces/greyhound etc produced with 6 cylinders at the same time the first testing bed ie Turner mod?I know as far back as 1953 the show chassis had a Morris rack but then AC  fitted the worm and sector for some reason, probaly monetary BUT was the return to rack and pinion a CSX thing or a local ie Bex, or A etc PREFIX. and what was the first car to receive the treatment? If not 127.
I incorrectly said COB or COX Which fall under cobras.Apologies

Thanks for that.
After my brain aneurysm rupturing, I even forget my wife`s name Gus, never mind what cars had what!!
I had written prehistorics Trevor,  but decided that might be pushing it too far.
Look forward to meeting you all at Goodwood.

Thank you for the offer Shep.
I would love to see the 378 being given a bit of stick around a track in capable hands. If it does materialize please "you tube" it.
A day like your Jag day sounds like a great idea. Any video coverage?
Gus and Chafford thanks for that and yes I`m extremely pleased with the end product. Just love driving these cars!
Looking forward to the revival and hopefully meeting some of you.
   Regards

This is not quite correct.
The CEO of the new AC Cars has yet to be announced and, in the interim the advisory board are managing the day to day affairs This board consists of..
   Sir Jeremy Mckenzie as Chairman
   2. Alan Lubinsky who owns the AC brand rights
   3. Jim Price representing the manufacturing side
   4.Allan Edgar
2 further positions still to be announced

On the selling side Britain is represented by Steve Grey of the Brooklands motor Company
   And Germany by Jurgen Mohr.

One just has to google the names to see that this board consists of some highly qualified gentleman.
I am highly optimistic that with their guidance, the AC marque will again be recognized and their cars enjoyed by fellow enthusiasts.

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / The word... SLABSIDE
« on: November 14, 2013, 02:50:44 »
Did this term originate in America or England and was it only used for the 289 cobra ( when the flares became more pronounced) or did it start with the first 260?  or any other cars?
I have also heard many owners of originals take exception
to the word preferring  street or roadster claiming nothing square about their car.
The urban Texas dictionary defines slab thus:
Slab stands for Slow Low And Bangin'. mainly used in the south!

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / sender unit
« on: January 07, 2013, 18:26:41 »
I have a little triangular temp sender unit mounted  to the top of the almost T (110 degrees at a guess) aluminium coolant pipe that runs betwwen Rad and RH water pump.It needs replacing but I am struggling to source a new one. "OTTER" Buxton England is imprinted on the red circular centre piece.
Are these available?  On a 289 roadster
   Thanks

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / Olthoff/csx2130 Goodwood Reunion
« on: August 26, 2012, 18:34:33 »
Just been chatting to Dennis and he tells me that he has been asked to drive Csx 2130 at the revival.[:D]
Which is great news for me as this was his Dad`s car back in the day.
If I remember correctly this was the car that initially had horrendous handling and Shelby was told so in no uncertain terms. His reply.. No crap driver, and sent Miles to England to show how it should be driven.
The outcome being that Miles crashed it first time out as well!! I believe the solution incorporated using wider rims and tires.
Dennis is as good as his Dad,Bob and does well in his red GT40 mk2 in the classic races here in the States.
I consider myself very privileged to be attending the revival to witness this and I`m sure Bob would be thrilled as well. Hope it works out well,

Without plowing (correct for a canadian) through umpteen books trying to find the answer, do any of the "historics" recall if all or some of the leaf sprung mk1`s had rack and pinion steering?.
   Thanks

I had never heard of the Zagoto bodied AC chassis before I read  'AC in detail' by Rinsey Mills. This has to be on top of "The cars I want to own " list
Does this car still exist? If so, where? Colour? Pictures?
The book by the way is exceptional
