Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / Exhaust
« on: July 16, 2017, 20:21:17 »
How many silencers would have been fitted as standard on a 289 sports. Mine has two in the centre section on each side and is fairly quiet on the road...

I am looking into changing the exhaust fairly soon and would want it back too how it was Originally..

Hi

Is anyone able to shed some light on what Washer bottle would have been used for the 66-67 AC 289 sports..   As always there are some photos i have seen of later cars with a 2SJ and 5SJ..

Also 6107 has a 5SJ  so where they swapped out as a service part from the original 2SJ..

   Thanks

General Forum / 21st Anniversary Bulletin
« on: May 11, 2017, 12:40:14 »
I managed to pick up a copy of the AC owners club 21st anniversary bulletin off eBay... It has a few loose pages and is a little tatty but has some interning photos.

I am sure the Club already has a copy of this but if not I am happy to donate it...

General Forum / AC (Electric)
« on: January 23, 2017, 12:56:03 »
Hi

Is there many of you out there with AC (Electric) stamped on the Log books, Has anyone had any luck getting the DVLA to change the details?  I keep drawing a blank with them as they keep asking for a letter from the manufacturer any help or documentation would be really helpful.

   Many thanks

Copied from a Facebook post from a Guy looking for his dads old race car...
I found out from the registry the car is BE719

Hi guys and a happy 2017 to you all. I'm on bit of a mission and you might be able to help me.
I'm trying to find out if my dad's old race car still exists. I'm afraid it's not quite a cobra, but if you like a cobra I think you will like this.
It's a 1959 ac aceca, originally Bristol engined, disc braked car. Red in colour.
Dad had converted it to rack and pinion, fitted a ford 260 v8 onto a jaguar overdrive gearbox. And club raced and sprinted through early to late 60's before having to sell.
He's never heard or seen the car since. Dads nearly 90 now and I would love to be able to tell him what happened to it
I don't know the chassis number only the number plate in the picture.
The picture was taken outside his garage. Westhill service station in Brookwood. The dog in the picture was his great Danes ceaser who used to love riding in the back of the car.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Cobra (Thames Ditton) Forum / Oil Pans/sumps
« on: October 03, 2016, 10:07:38 »
Hi

Would the AC289 sport have been fitted with a standard steel oil pan in 66/67 or the alloy Cobra or cobra T sump.

I know the Alloy Valve covers were an option, I guess the sump would have been included in this Option. How would one know if your car was fitted with these options from day one, Nothing in the registry..

The photos I have show 6105(open faced lettering) 6107(closed face) with what look like correct covers, Smaller filler hole and squared section where the cover bolts down,  while  6115 6117 6120 6124 all look like Newer reproduction with rounded hole sections.

Would the alloy gearbox Bell housing have been painted Blue to match the Motor,

   Many thanks
