Gerry Hawkridge of Hawk Cars should be able to supply the shock absorbers, you are best contacting Steve Hall regarding the window,The Club spares had a complete rear door on the spares list may be still available!

Hi Bernard,

shock absorbers are quite easy to get. My Aceca has SPAX.

   Front: G624 (126,08€) http://www.spax-deutschland.de/product_info.php?products_id=38118

   Rear: G623 (126,08€) http://www.spax-deutschland.de/product_info.php?products_id=38117

If you contact Steve concerning the hatchback window, please ask for two. I need also a new window.

   Kind regards,

   Peter

Hi Peter , Thank you for the Spax information.
I found a rear Perspex window for Aceca from Geoff Leigh who owns a buck to make them.
You should get in touch with him at :

Peter,
Spax has two different versions for the rear ones G623 and G623EA, last one being the "short" version. Do you know the difference? Which one should be used for non racing applications?
   Thanks

Ignacio,

that's a good question. I don't know the difference. I have the normal G623 in my standard Aceca (no race application).

Spax says those "short" absorbers are for special cars lowered by Brian Eacott.
So I guess I need to go with the regular ones.

Ignacio,
Information from David Sanderson: Those EA suffix dampers are as specified by Brian Eacott for the purpose of reducing extended length. This prevents the old Ace/Aceca problem of maximum suspension droop exceeding the angular capability of the U.J.s Sounds like a good idea to me.

Have to agree with Barrie..[;)]

The shorter Shockers are most useful especially when jacking up the rear end and adjusting brake shoes, heaven help you should you ever experience full shock absorber travel at speed.
Seriously really worth buying the shorter version, does not effect ride comfort.

Got it! They are the same price and both versions need to the special ordered as there is no stock at all. 6 weeks delivery time. Now that we are on this topic, are Spax the best option? Or are other alternatives like konis, bilsteins?
Again I do not intend to race....

.
   Murat

I Bought BEX333 in December 2000 and during major service of steering ,brakes and suspension in Feb / March 2001 replaced old original shocks with  Spax adjustable units.
Have since covered some 50,000 miles on track and road, often two up with luggage for 10 /15 days holiday,  all four units serving well, adjusters still operative, yellow paint and bushes in good condition.
Can only speak from experience of Spax, Maybe some one can  voice opinion of Koni or equivalent..[;)]

Good advice here for a new owner and I think Spax currently give a discount to ACOC members. Thanks. I have a 1955 Ace, can anyone advise me if the Spax adjustable shocks are eligible for racing such a car in the UK and/or under FIA regs?  I seem to recall someone saying a few years ago the latter did not allow adjustable ones?
