....funny mine is just one of 4,77 million vehicles registered in Sweden, but I saw another AC at the Sofiero Classic meet in June, Helsingborg. Owned by a Dane, built 1936 or thereabouts.

No, depends a little on when the car was built. EU regs. accept that the speedometer can have dual scales, MPH and KM/Hr, directive 75/443/EEG and 2000/7/EG apply.

Hej BBK, I don't think the comments were refering to grammar. See http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/252950.html , after reading this you maybe understand the brief touch of excitement!

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Hardtop Glass
« on: July 30, 2017, 12:36:18 »
Many thanks for the windscreen, very useful as my windscreen has a stone chip, which will probably turn into a crack in the Swedish climate.

Must admit ARGIC codes don't seem to help so much, but the other codes indicate the glass was manufactured in UK by Pilkingtons for AC (as their logo is etched in the glass). If you havn't already asked them it could be worth a try.

..it might help if you type the text on the glass e.g. the ARGIC code and any other markings such as manufacturer, I can't read whats in the photo.

If someone can confirm if the front windscreen is the same as from a 2001 Jag XK or 1992 Jag XJ that would be useful to know too.

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Paint colour/ Colour code
« on: July 06, 2017, 20:35:06 »
The numbers in (), 611, can be a RAL standard colour code number but they are normally 4 figures. 6xxx is in the green spectrum.
I think you best bet is a good car body paint shop. Our local paint shop recognised my "blue" car straight away and even knew the full name "Mauritius Blue Pearl", a BMW colour.

....are you sure the code is llDN and not HDN?
HDN  is a colour code for Jaguar racing green.

Have you looked at the Brooklands Ace website gallery? There are two dark green Ace's shown. Your's looks similar to the Tourmaline green metallic car shown, but its better you judge yourself. Tourmaline seems to have been a popular choice for the mk1's.

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Wiper motor help please
« on: June 04, 2017, 09:50:56 »
Main fuse box and relays are from Ford Scorpio mk2, so is the wiper switch; should'nt be too hard to find from a scrapyard in UK. I had one hit from a Swedish scrapyard. If you hav'nt already done so I would look at nikbj68 suggestion first before spending money on a relay or new wiper switch.

My Ace has the intermittent wiper function. Have you checked relay R2 and/or the wiper switch?

Nearest I could find was MFD200B 53537702 from a Citroen BX, see
http://en.bildelsbasen.se/se-sv/OEM/53537702/ . Is it the motor or the drive mechanism that's faulty? The motor looks the same for Valeo/Marchal wiper motors with the MFD200B code. It turns up on Renault, Peugeot and Citroen vehicles, the difference I guess is the drive mechanisms, so there is no guarantee that the drive part would be a suitable replacement.

My intention was to self-build but my son-in-law and his father thought I should buy a second-hand car that was a "runner". I found an AC on Car and Classic which was also advertised on the forum. I now own an AC which I use and enjoy while restoring slowly plus I gained 18 months of enjoyment by not building myself.

Ace 'Brooklands' Forum / Weight
« on: November 22, 2016, 22:45:28 »
I found a thread in another forum that seems to indicate the Ace is heavy, see http://acownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=133&SearchTerms=heavy,steering .

To quote from the thread "but it does handle quite well - for a 2 seater tank weighing 1.75 tonnes anyway!"

It can be that the figure stated is from the handbook and not the result of weighing the car. I think the differences in the weights will
   remain an unsolved mystery.
