Title: Original Glove Box
Post by: GWL on May 10, 2011, 14:42:46
I am building a Factory Five Roadster, Cobra Replica. I would like to duplicate the glove box as close as possible to the originals. I know there are aftermarket boxes but I like the shape and the way the originals look. There is just something about the originals that I like.

Does anyone have pictures of the details of the box/door/hinge construction?

Does anyone have dimensions and the location of the box on the dash?

How is the bead attached around the glove box door? Detailed pictures?

Does anyone have pictures of an uncovered dash showing the turned in curve to the opening?

What is the radius of the edged opening of the box in the dash?

Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

   Thanks for your time, George

I am renewing this old thread in hopes someone may help here. I have been off my project car for a while now and am getting back to work on it again.

I would be interested in both the street 289 Cobra dash glove box details but I'm building a 427 street Cobra dash and it is those sizes and details that I need the most. I attended SAAC 37 in Watkins Glen, NY this spring and took lots of pictures but failed to get dimensions and still have questions about the details of the beading around the glove box door.

   Thanks for your time, George

George,
You might try Nick Acton of Acton Custom.

He is very helpful and may be able to get you the dimensions you need.

Thanks Jay.

I know Nick, have been to his shop and looked at his dash boards. Even ran into him at SAAC37. He had promised me the details I wanted but he must be away because I have not been able to get a hold of him this week. I was ready to layout my glove box and other items on the dash so I thought I'd try here again.

   Thanks again, George
