428 Frua Forum / Designed by Frua badges
« on: June 02, 2009, 15:22:19 »
I'm looking for a badge company to restore and make up some of these badges that sit on the front wings of the 428. Mine are tired and I have at least one other party in need of a pair of badges.

So far I've contacted 2 or 3 possible suppliers. How many owners would like a pair?

428 Frua Forum / Vibration at High Speed
« on: April 20, 2009, 15:06:46 »
At speeds in excess of 70mph my car suffers from fairly alarming vibration through the steering wheel which if "driven through" does ease off. Any thoughts on the cause?

428 Frua Forum / Hood cover
« on: June 12, 2008, 11:46:19 »
I am about to embark upon arranging for a new hood - my current arrangement has a rather unattractive and ill-fitting cover for when the hood is down. It looks to me like CF1 had a metal cover. Can anyone help me with this and also post some photos of their covers?

I am about to lend my rad to Hawk cars for them to use as a copy to produce for the 428 (being subtly different from the 427 rad).

If anyone is interested please contact Hawk or myself.

428 Frua Forum / Zenith fuel filter
« on: March 22, 2008, 17:50:05 »
Just received my overhauled carb back from Rusty Petrovic aka Doc Carburetor in Canada. Whole thing looks as new, I highly recommend his work.

Installation went well and I've added a new fuel filter attached to the carb fuel intake. However poor running lead me to investigate the old Zenith Mk 1A filter attached to the inner wing.  This has a brass (as opposed to glass) bowl with a stacked copper? ring filter element that has seen better days.

I've removed the element for now and the cars running great. But I'd like to rebuild as near original as possible so...

Does anyone know how to clean/revive the element? or is a modern filter element available that fits the old unit?

Happy Easter be it motoring or mechanicking...

428 Frua Forum / Under bonnet blanket
« on: March 05, 2008, 13:37:53 »
Mine is looking really rather tatty. It's some sort of coir matting, coming apart and held on at one point with bailer twine.

Any suggestions for what and where to source as a replacement? Is one even necesary?

428 Frua Forum / Frua spotting
« on: March 03, 2008, 08:49:42 »
March issue of Octane has an interview with Jim Feldman ACOC member and owner of numerous AC's from the sociable to the frua. Photos include his fastback (partly hidden behind a piller in a line of 6 assorted ACs)and his '428 roadster restoration project...second class at Pebble Beach in 1990'.
Interestingly he has most examples including a gorgeous Zagato Ace but for the Cobra which he regards as "not really an AC".

428 Frua Forum / C & SC Feb. issue
« on: January 23, 2008, 14:00:46 »
Advance notice to all- next months'(Feb.)Classic and Sports Car will have a feature on the AC428. Looks somewhat coincidentally like the presumably not yet sold HurstPark fastback is featured.

Also of note in Jan issue is an ad for a Mistral coupe at £25K - seems cheap?

428 Frua Forum / Carb id
« on: October 30, 2007, 07:52:34 »
Hello all,

Can anyone help with my trying to identify which Holley carb. I have fitted, all I can see is an alloy tag stamped AUTOLITE C8 AF B  / C7H30, the main body is stamped 4 C.B and 8P on the other side. I'm trying to source the correct re-build/service kit and my parts guy thinks I should have an LST number?

428 Frua Forum / What no brakes!!
« on: October 19, 2007, 18:19:01 »
Having last used CF25 for a 40 mile run a few weeks ago I started up last Sunday only to feel the brake pedal drop to the floor.

I know little about brakes, the wingside reservoir looked as good as empty. Am I to assume master cylinder failure? - oddly there is no sign of any leakage.

All and any advice would be more than welcome.

428 Frua Forum / Air flow control
« on: September 04, 2007, 14:25:22 »
Can anyone tell me how the air flow regulation knobs (either side of the centre console) were originally set up to work. My left side is broken and the right has been altered to act as a choke - with the knob glued-on[:(!]
In addition any idea where these knobs can be sourced from?
