I am being told that the generator on these early car is just a vulgar Lucas item also used an early MGs', Healeys etc. with mechanical Tachometer. Nothing fancy. You problem is going to be the mounts if you don't have them. There is a Photo of an early Cobra on the www.csxinfo.net site and the mounts look completely different than those on your photo.

There is a bracket for sale on Ebay which should work and looks quite similar to the early Cobra pictured on the site above! auction # 220214400946 it's for an early Fairlane or Galaxie 260 cu/inch generator bracket. Assuming your car is powered by a small block of course. Hope this help!

Your welcome. For info I just stumbled onto an interesting site:

   http://www.gener-nator.com/details.htm

XK's Unlimited sells an alternator which looks like a generator for early E-types. Correct looking but with the performance of an alternator. I wonder if these guys make it! If you call them you might be able to find one with a tach drive!

Sorry, after reading the Gener-Nator application, they don't make one with a tach drive!
