AKLs are supposed to be 200 lbs lighter than AKs... where is that weight gained, apart from few parts deleted (heater, door bar,..) and the alloy heads ?

For $190,000, on Ebay : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/65-427-AC-Cobra-made-England-Super-condition-Trophy-Blue-/180904431954?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2a1ebe9152#ht_500wt_1182

so it is supposed to be a COX car ?

edit: it was written in the auction : CSX1013 [:o)]...

Ok, not a big deal, but in the same process to make the interior looking like I want, I installed AC engraved pedal to the Ford pedal box ...
I ordered the parts from Finish Line, and the cast is quite rough... So I polished it, but more importantly, I milled the boss in order it 'll  can be inserted in the hole on the pedal (where the rubber was previously):

I then glued them with a bicomposant metallic epoxy glue to the existing pedal (very strong!):

   Pleased with the result...

since Saturday, it appears that my brake lights stay on... I assume that the brake light switch is the culprit, and that it stays on when failed ?

if so, is the replacement the only option, and does anybody have the part number ?

   thanks !

Here's the "spin off" of the ak1106 topic, in order to not disturb it...

I finally received my parts from Finish Line, and changed the gearlever...

   How it was previously :

   The parts:

I must say that i'm very pleased with the quality... The knob has the T5 pattern on it. The reverse hooker is non functionnal, but is sliding...

And how it looks now on the car :

   Looks better, uh ?

The shifting is perfect, and it doesn't foul with the dashboard... When on 1st or 3rd, the knob is at the same longitudinal level than the steering wheel. The shifting is smoother, probably because of the bigger leverage force... The only downside is that, because of the shifter boot, the 4th gear sometimes jump, but I assume if i relocate the boot, I can solve this problem ...

hello,

I participated last week-end to the french "Cobra Days" with AK1113, in the Limousin (center of France)... Apart from the very bad weather (excepted on Monday), I experimented what could have been a serious problem...

since the departure, the handling was not "as usual", with a bit of shimmy ... arrived in the Limousin, the situation was getting worse, and I thought at first that the steering was concerned. but, after having carefully checked that the front axle wasn't the culprit, I found that my rear right wheel was about to leave me [B)] !
it was just maintained by the disc within the caliper, and by the hub which was just lying in the upright! in fact the bolt that keep the hub pressed into the upright was totally loosen and was lying in the flange... it was not retained in any manner (no locking washer, no locking wire or locking plate ) ! how can it be done that way ?
I assume I read something like that in the Peter's restoration story, where he built a special system, but his bolt was drilled, IIRC, but mine isn't !

anyway, I used thread locking  and put all the things together, but wasn't able to set the   pressure load accurately... it allowed me at least  to come back (still under heavy rain) and finish this 900 miles trip !

BTW, what are the bearing references, as I plan to renew them on both sides, and check this bolt problem on left side as well ...

Hi all,

does anybody have pictures of the hexa column, and especially from the adjustable mechanism (the one with a paddle that you push or pull) ? mine is a bit loose...

I understand that the mechanism can be tighten, but I also want to know if the upper part can be replaced by a non-adjustable one, that can also be fixed a bit higher (as my new 15" wheel fouls legs) and maybe a VW-type switch fitted on it ... has anybody done that ?

I'm also making a spacer, in order to adapt the six bolts (but narrower) Moto-lita OEM cobra wheel to the 6 bolts hub... pictures to come !

Hello,

I saw several topics talking about shocks (some arguing about the poor quality of factory fitted Spax ones),  but I assume no reference was mentioned...

So, for record, here are the infos from Spax :

   Front:  ref G953 - Price: £ 239.98 VAT incl.
   Rear :  ref G952 - Price: £ 219.99 VAT incl.

prices are for each... warning from Spax : "Please be aware for the rear units you will need to source or re-use your existing spherical bearings"

I found that mine were really comfortable, but way too soft on bumpy roads, with bounces on compression... I played with the adjustable screw at their bottom (not the best I've seen, as it has no stop and looks fragile), and it is far better !

Hello everybody,

I'm Olivier, from France, and after owning a fake snake (a 289 BRA)among other classic cars, I now want the "real thing", and I'm looking for a MKIV [:p]...
it has preferably to be an early one (1982), as it is by far the easiest way to register it here (cars older than 30 years old benefit from a classic registration, even if not previously homologated in the country), LHD, and, of course [;)], at a decent price ...
AK1001 was a perfect candidate (it was the subject of a previous thread on this forum), but it is now sold  and I wasn't ready ...

Thank to this forum,  I know that only few cars were produced in 1982 (all buxbaum cars), but I guess it can be found  ...

a later car can be considered, but it would be a harder (registration) & more expensive (duty taxes if from the USA) porject.

   Thank you

   Olivier

PS: Special Thanks to Peter (dkp_Cobra) & Bruce (C9OBY) for their precious infos by PM [:)] ...
